49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

I wouldn't change a single thing. There are few timelines that result in 3 super bowls in 5 years. If you start Mahomes in his rookie season, we likely don't have three super bowls.

I know most in here will disagree with me…

But I’d argue acquiring Alex Smith was one of the most important events in Chiefs franchise history. It helped us dig out from rock bottom, stabilized the franchise. It set things up for where we are now. Absolutely. I wouldn’t change a thing.

The only thing I'll say negative about Alex is that he seemed to hold himself back with his conservative nature. When he turned on the juice you could see it was there.

The 2017 defense was not that good. I don't think that team wins the Super Bowl with a young Mahomes.

The weird thing which is a separate topic is some of the best QBs of this century all sat at first. Mahomes, Rodgers, even Jalen Hurts didn't start right away. Eli Manning, Rivers, Jordan Love, even Brady but that was a different situation. I know GMs and coaches are always trying to save their jobs but you think more people would try having their QB sit for at least half a year to get up to speed.
