Yay, GTA Online is live and seems in line with my expectations. Also, ad #7 for the Crew I made, Cheef Planet:
http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/crew/cheef_planet Join it if you want to shoot things and rob places with me on your X-Box Entertainment System. IT WILL PROBABLY BE FUN? That was the mission that made me switch from free aim to traditional. =[

The online just double blows my mind and my being impressed already was super high! I'm not a huge gamer, and limited time to play, but the online had me sucked in last night- though I still have a lot of the normal game to play, but I did just join the crew just in case. Happy hunting

Intermittently, ya, I probably do. I even liked the flying in overhead and getting picked up at the airport intro'- nothing amazing per se, just liked the novelty of introduction to your Los Santos baptism, and that they've made it a free for all but there's still consequences. I've had crew / team members screw around and clip me, but there's some built in deterrent to simply walking into the game and having to play like you're in "Escape from La" mode and having people snipe you all the time like in some of the team missions.
Not enticing this by being able to stock up on killing people for huge caches and rewards is a smart move, so when a do for no reason at all face a situation when a random player decided to have a high speed shoot out just out of the blue I actually have a little fun playing along and welcome that sort of chaotic randomness. At least till you freak out enough onlookers that the cops come into it and now are coming after both of you. Happened to me last night and I managed to sandwich the other guy by a highway overpass / on ramp wall and my car and then booked it on foot to get just out of range of all the hi speed pursuit cops and watch as squad cars surrounded the other guy and lit him up like Christmas as he tried to free his car and then exit the vehicle in a blood soaked massacre all over the drivers side of the car. I just don't want to get constantly 86'd every couple of minutes otherwise it'd take like 50 lives to ever get anywhere in the game, and if I want stealth missions, I'll ****ing play Metal Gear.

Okay, so here is my thoughts on the single player storyline. Since that is what the biggest complaint in reviews.
Spoiler!
I do wish in some missions you were given the flexibility to complete them the way you want to and not fail a mission instantly. I love that in GTA III, I could have a mission "Kill this guy" and I could gun him down like they made it appear. Or I could steal his car, plant a bomb in it and put it back. Killing him when he started it. If I even try to go to the gun store while on a mission, most times I fail it.
