Well if you'd look I gave a pretty detailed thought of why I don't like him there.

You know what...you've been right enough that I'll take your word for it, I guess.

What do you think about Tank at NT? He has the strength for it, and quick enough to slide off the center and make tackles.

If he works hard and gains lower body mass, possibly. Before this year he'd always been top heavy which means he'd probably get pushed out of plays. To be a NT you need great base strength.

And for what you said earlier, Tim Krumrie has horrible taste in players, some of the players I know he pushed to be drafted at one point or another..the list is not good.

And people say you're full of shit. I never even thought about this until now. Great point.

Yeah...I wonder how much the new regime is depending on his "expertise."

Krumrie is really overrated. If Pioli gets talent it won't really matter who the position coach is.

My friend who is a Buffalo fan still despises him.

He pushed to draft guys like Chris Kelsay and Tim Anderson, in 05 they had an entire line of white guys that were very marginally talented outside of Schobel.

He didn't like Pat Williams or Ted Washington because they were "to fat" while loving Ron Edwards.

In my friends words he ruined Buffalo's line.

Pioli will probably listen to his scouts and not Krumrie. It seems like when Pioli took over he said either we do it my way or you can go.

hursday, August 13: Afternoon Practice

There were nearly 100 fans at the 18th Kansas City Chiefs practice. As the clouds were able to keep the sun under control, more people found the field a more enjoyable place to spend the afternoon.

Extra, extra...

During the team’s 11-on-11 drill, Head Coach Todd Haley was disappointed with the amount of effort from both sides of the ball. “Pick up the pace, O,” Haley said at one point. “Pick up the tempo.” Later, Haley called the entire team together in the middle of field 2. He explained to the team earlier that he wanted this Thursday afternoon practice ran at the intensity of a Friday practice, considering the team wouldn’t be practicing again until next week due to their preseason game against Houston. “This is not an adequate Friday practice,” Haley lectured. “Pick up the tempo.”

The team was one guy short during a drive in 11-on-11, and Defensive Coordinator Chan Gailey hollered for another man. Head Coach Todd Haley was not impressed with the coaches’ performance. “Come on, coaches,” he said. “That’s on you, coaches.”

Defense

Cornerback DaJuan Morgan and linebacker Zach Thomas were the only inactive defensive players at this afternoon’s practice.

At the end of the team’s 11-on-11 drill, linebacker Derrick Johnson picked off quarterback Tyler Thigpen. The interception was the last play of the drill.

Guard Wade Smith, running back Kolby Smith and guard Tavares Washington were the offensive players that did not participate in practice this afternoon.

The last couple of practices, quarterback Tyler Thigpen had been taking snaps after first-string quarterback Matt Cassel. Today, however, it was quarterback Brodie Croyle who followed Cassel in the drills. Thigpen took the third drives, and quarterback Matt Gutierrez was fourth in the rotation.

During 11-on-11, receiver Dwayne Bowe dropped a pass from quarterback Matt Gutierrez. The pass hit Bowe right in the hands, in the middle of his body. Head Coach Todd Haley knew Bowe should have made the grab. “Come on, Dwayne,” Haley hollered. “You’ve got to catch that.”

Special Teams

The team, as a whole, spent a lot of this afternoon’s practice working on the field goal block, punts and kickoff returns. Receivers Quinten Lawrence and Rodney Wright were in the back field, returning most of the kicks during the drills.

Long snapper Thomas Gafford replaced former long snapper Tanner Purdum on the roster. Gafford wears No. 43 during training camp, as Purdum used to. Head Coach Todd Haley said that Gafford was on the roster during the entire offseason, but when it came down to choosing only 80 men to attend camp, Gafford wasn’t one of them. Haley said Gafford was told to keep working out and staying in shape, and that he should leave his phone on because they may call him back. When Purdum was cut, Gafford got the call. Haley also said that Purdum was told the same thing that Gafford was, to stay in shape and keep working out because you never know when they may need him. The Chiefs have made quite a few long snapper moves in the last nine months. On Oct. 29, Gafford was signed. Former long snapper Jean-Philippe Darche was released on March 19. On April 7, Purdum was signed, and on June 19, the Chiefs released Gafford. Now, on Aug. 13, Purdum was released, and Gafford was signed the same day.

I agree. Edwards is the perfect solution for this team until we find the NTOTF.

610 is rumoring that the Chiefs worked out Ashley Lelie today. They couldn't confirm it was Lelie but they definitely had a WR in for a workout today.

Gretz on today's practice... (the link is in the first post of this thread)

Camp Practice Update 8/13 P.M.
August 13, 2009 - Bob Gretz | Comments (5)

From River Falls, Wisconsin

For the first time in this 2009 training camp, the Chiefs had a practice day without pads. That was Todd Haley’s decision as they went through a practice geared towards special teams and preparation for Saturday’s pre-season opener against Houston.

Haley may have regretted his decision on the pads, because the pace and tempo of the work was not to his liking. “It was not perfect by any means, but we did get it under our belts,” was Haley’s evaluation of the session.

The Chiefs made a roster move Thursday morning, released long snapper Tanner Purdum and re-signing long snapper Thomas Gafford. It’s a search for more consistency at the position, as Purdum’s snaps have been trending a bit high in recent practices.

Here’s some info from the workout:
– The No. 1 offense lined up this way: WRs Devard Darling and Terrance Copper, TE Sean Ryan, RB Larry Johnson, FB Mike Cox, QB Matt Cassel and across the offensive line from left to right Branden Albert, Brian Waters, Rudy Niswanger, Mike Goff and Damion McIntosh. At RT Herb Taylor continues to get some work with the No. 1 unit, as does TE Brad Cottam.

– The No. 1 defense lined up this way: DEs Alfonso Boone and Glenn Dorsey, NT Ron Edwards, OLBs Mike Vrabel and Tamba Hali, ILBs Corey Mays and Derrick Johnson, CBs Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr and Ss Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard. DE Tyson Jackson got some time with the first unit as well. CB Maurice Leggett continues to be the top nickel back.

– The No. 2 defense lined up like this: DEs Wallace Gilberry and Alex Magee, NT Tank Tyler, OLBs Andy Studebaker and Turk McBride, ILBs Jovan Belcher and Monty Beisel, CBs Leggett and Ricardo Colclough and Ss Jon McGraw and Mike Brown.

– WR Rodney Wright was the only player working as a punt returner. On kick returns, it was Wright, WR Quinten Lawrence, RB Dantrell Savage and CB Londen Fryar.

– Not participating in practice were: Gs Wade Smith and Tavares Washington, S DaJuan Morgan, ILB Zach Thomas and RB Kolby Smith.

Personally, he'd be an improvement over McSuckintosh, provided that he is given the chance.

With all that said, I still strongly believe he would make an excellent center.
