You know what? **** it. If Haley wants to send Bowe to fetch Krispy Kreme every morning or put him on toilet-wash detail for the remainder of the preseason; fine.

But you and I both know that come opening day of the regular season, he'd damn well better be in the starting line-up if we expect to win some games.

Bowe is the only receiver that looked worth a shit-Bradley caught a couple nice ones.

Bowe will be our #1 opening day.

And we're worried about this year because?

If it takes a game or two into the regular season this year to ensure the message really gets through, then I'm all for it.

I'd rather be sure he is a reliable receiver in the coming years when we (hopefully) are a legitimate contender that worry about winning games this year, when the only thing we'll be contending for is the division basement regardless.

Darling got a starting spot after getting demoted, then getting "it". The probability of Bowe getting it too, has to be good.

Bull. Enough proving a point that Bowe isn't as good as he thinks he is. Get the entire offense together and let them play. It didn't do anybody much good having Cassel throw to guys who might not ever start this year let alone make the team. Cassel couldn't get into a rhythm. The OL didn't get tested that much, etc.

Personally I think both Bowe and Bradley need to be in the starting lineup. Bowe is the obvious one. Bradley isn't great by any means but he has shown more than scrubs like Copper and Darling. Our offense didn't do shit with Copper and Darling in there but once Bowe and Bradley came in we were able to show at least some consistency.

Gretz afternoon practice update...

August 17, 2009 - Bob Gretz | 1 Comment

From River Falls, Wisconsin

Todd Haley was all over his offense in the Chiefs Monday afternoon practice here in the northwoods.

He kept up a constant chatter throughout the workout of encouragement, criticism and frustration as he asked his offense to be productive and start fast.

There were mixed results. At the end of practice, the Chiefs went into a situation period. The No. 1 offense had two minutes and 80 yards to score a TD with no timeouts. On seven plays, QB Matt Cassel had led the offense to the defense’s 43-yard line, but on the eighth play, his pass was picked off by CB Maurice Leggett.

The No. 2 offense had this situation: 50 seconds to play, one timeout and they needed a FG to win, with the ball starting ata their 40-yard line. Basically, the offense needed to get to the defense’s 25-yard line to set up a kick. QB Brodie Croyle completed two short passes and was forced to use his timeout. A third-and-2 play became a third-and-7 play when TE Brad Cottam jumped early and was penalized for a false start.

But on that play, Croyle found WR Mark Bradley wide open about 20 yards down the field and hit him in stride. Bradley then ran untouched through the No. 2 defense for a touchdown.

Other notes and highlights from the afternoon practice:
– WR Devard Darling left practice with about 30 minutes to go and trainers were working on his right shoulder. Typical of the new regime, Darling had an ice bag taped to his shoulder, and was then sent to the rehab area, where he rode a stationary bike for the rest of practice.

With Darling out, WR Dwayne Bowe got some snaps with the first-team offense, catching three passes from QB Matt Cassel during the teamwork portion of practice.

– Sitting out the workout were the same four players that missed the morning practice: QB Tyler Thigpen, RB Kolby Smith, G Tavares Washington and ILB Zach Thomas, who did a lot of running and cutting during his work and looks like he’s close to being able to come back. Again, the Chiefs will release no details on his injury.

– In the team run portion of practice, the defense dominated, winning nine of the 12 plays.

– RG Mike Goff got the day off from the pass protection drill as Wade Smith handled the snaps at the position against the pass rushers. Goff took all the other snaps on the right side. Barry Richardson again ran with the first team O-Line at right tackle.

– In a red zone 7-on-7 passing drill, the Chiefs offense had 12 plays and scored just one TD as Cassel hooked up with WR Terrance Copper. Leggett, CB Brandon Carr and FS Jon McGraw knocked down passes in or near the end zone.

– After practice seven players caught balls off the machine as kick or punt returners; Leggett, Rodney Wright, Taurus Johnson, Londen Fryar, Dantrell Savage, Quinten Lawrence and Jackie Bates.

Yes, because I personally like to read the article directly from a certain site, and furthermore it gives proof and location of the said article

Running the 3rd team WRs out there with the 1st team offense doesn't really do anything but screw with the cohesion of the unit at this point.

I like the message that's being sent, but everyone knows who the best players are at that position. I can't speak for all the things that Bowe apparently doesn't do well enough to Haley's liking. But I'd like to think that his impact will outweigh the ego of the coach. Even if he has to be corrected by Bradley from time to time when lining up.
It's getting reeruned.

I don't care if Bowe made a mental error.

Copper dropped a ****ing pass.

Get Copper OFF that ****ing first team. NOW.
