Off-season WR possibilities

Seeing a lot of teams with sub .500 records with WRs that need to get with Mahomes.

Who is available and who would you like to see us pursue to go with Rice and Watson.

Not remotely the same thing as MVS.
I'm not comparing him to MVS, or that wasn't my intention there. Just using him as an example that just saying "we have Mahomes he'll produce here" isn't necessarily a given.

Any thoughts on what Allen might get. I think Hopkins is the only half way decent comp (age/production) and he got 2 for 26 or something along those lines. Thielen got 3 for 24 and balled out.

Allen misses alot of games with soft tissue stuff, that usually gets worse wiht age.

I'd say he might be a 2/24 guy or that's what I'd wanna pay him here.

I continue to be amazed that people see how this current WR room has been built with draft picks and reclamation projects - and then want to continue to go down that road.

There's no need for us to be in the "revive someone's career" business. Let someone else take that risk.

It's not gonna be easy - but Veach's job is to find someone through the draft, FA and/or trade that will be a difference maker, not a question mark.

I actually think Brown would be a nice fit here, but a good fit at 14 million a year not at 20 million.

That just seems wild for a guy that's had 1 good season, but FA is FA.

Ehh.. missed a bit last year and has been relatively healthy for the most part but I think you are in the ball park on salary. He is just a zone killer.

Of course it matters.

I wouldn't care that Hopkins was on his 3rd team in 3 years. It's a weird random fact that has nothing to do with the player and whether I want him or he fits.

Any guy that the Chiefs would be trading for would, in all likelihood, be able to be slapped with a "disgruntled" tag. Terry McLaurin is "disgruntled" and tired of losing in Washington while a revolving door of garbage QBs shot-put the ball in his general vicinity. If Justin Jefferson forces a trade out of Minnesota, it would qualify.

That wouldn't be a factor I'd be worried about in acquiring him.

D.J. Moore was disgruntled in Carolina. Stafon Diggs is disgruntled, it seems, generally. Tyreek Hill was apparently disgruntled in Kansas City.

I'm not even all-in on Brown. It's the option that makes the most sense and seems the most likely to me, as of today. It's a move you can make, with enough upside it ends up as a value move, and the floor is high enough to have it only be a mild overpay. I like the range of outcomes compared to the investment cost.

He's so good though. **** I might go 3 for 55 and guarantee 35 of it. But it's risky.

Yeah, I get that. I just don't agree that Aiyuk + Hardman is better than, say,

Marquise Brown or Mike Evans + Emeka Egbuka or Adonai Mitchell + a solid starter with the leftover cap space.

I'd rather take the risk on someone like Allen or Evans that has PROVEN to be a top notch talent than to spend on a guy we have to make excuses for to justify the signing.

If Veach is aggressive and it just doesn't work out, fine.

But to half-ass it with guys with question marks - no thanks, we've seen that movie before.

The only thing these WR's have in common with Hollywood is the "disgruntled" tag.

They are all in a class well above.

Why wouldn't Mike Evans get 25 plus a year? With the amount of money out there, if Brown is getting 20, there's no chance you get Evans for less than 25, he's a top 5ish WR.

If I can get Egbuka, just draft him, put him outside, sign a mid tier FA WR and go forward. Dont' overspend on it, play the kids and deal with it.

One of those disgruntled WR's has 1 1k yard season and forced his way off a perennial winning franchise.

I'd say that's not really anything like the others, but we are talking WR's so they're pretty much always disgruntled.

If Jefferson wants out, yeah, send them 2 1's and pay him and move on.

Don't get the Hollywood Brown disapproval.

MVS had Rodgers and Mahomes and still couldn't ever produce consistently. Watson was on a team with Tom Brady and couldn't even get on the field. Was even on a PS.

Hollywood Brown was a key component to Lamar winning MVP. Had 21 TD's in 3 years at Baltimore and 7 in 2 years with a carousel of QB's about half the time.

He's obviously a good player that produces. He also fits the scheme really well. They need a burner to replace MVS. If it isn't him then who? Bc Duvernway and Mooney is pretty much doing what we have been doing.

They need to go after a big fish FA

Spotrac has Evans' projected contract at 4/$96M.
