Not in that last post, you didn't. You answered that you were annoyed at the film because of your desire to see the death of a character that has earned your emotional investment.
My question is why do you have that desire? And not just you. Why does pretty much everyone naturally have that desire? Of course, the film (and, similarly, the Cormac McCarthy novel it was adapted from) is intentionally trying to get the audience to think about that very question. It is a film about the impersonal nature of evil, about man's solipsistic conception of evil ("why does this bad stuff happen to me? What did I do?"), and about exploring and challenging the artistic construction of genre works and some of the more universal aspects of storytelling. People are supposed to feel annoyed or cheated by the film, but they're also supposed to think about why they feel the way they do. When people say that they don't like No Country for Old Men, they often really mean "I don't like self-reflection." |

They're good. The last one was trash, especially how they screwed up Jean Grey's Phoenix character. Total screw job, much like how they totally ****ed up the Silver Surfer story in that FF movie. [/nerd]

I actually liked the movie I just hated that they show you all his kills except that one. Even though I hate the bad guy getting away it didn't kill the movie for me. god forbid that I didn't like the death we didn't get to see. Its just my opinion.

personally I think it would have been more interesting to have not seen all the other kills and then getting to see something really gruesome on Brolin.

I think that's the realization Tommy Lee Jones comes to at the end when he talks about his dream. He's saying the good is gone, it's all just shit now. None of it means anything. In other books by McCarthy he has characters say it more directly. The Judge in Blood Meridian basically says, Why not kill people? Not only is it ok, it's something to enjoy. |

Fate just might **** you up and you're wasting time trying to figure out how. Moss was all geared up to do battle with this super killer, and some Mexican yahoos track him down in the mean time and take him out animal style. For you it manifested as annoyance, but the ending was INTENDED to bother you. You're supposed to say 'that's not how it was supposed to end.' It's observing that Evil has gotten so brazen and determined that it can strike you on a whim from any direction. So much so that you wonder if there's any use in trying to stop it, kind of like whack a mole except now the moles are popping up under your feet, over your shoulder, two blocks away, in the ladies room, etc. So just sit back and hope the coin toss goes your way. They even made it explicit with Moss' last scene alive, when he tells the gal by the pool "just looking for what's coming," followed 'Uncle' Ellis' “you can’t stop what’s coming. It ain’t all waiting on you. That’s vanity,”

it's not even an artsy film you muron. It's just fantastic acting, directing and writing. You're talking like it's a ****ing indie film and it's not. You don't like it fine, but you are one of the only people that thinks that way.

If you just mean that Moss is killed offscre . . . page, and the Sheriff pulls up on scene in the aftermath, yes. Other parts were changed, some omissions, some order changes.
