Off-season WR possibilities

Seeing a lot of teams with sub .500 records with WRs that need to get with Mahomes.

Who is available and who would you like to see us pursue to go with Rice and Watson.

He's obviously a good player that produces. He also fits the scheme really well. They need a burner to replace MVS. If it isn't him then who? Bc Duvernway and Mooney is pretty much doing what we have been doing.

They need to go after a big fish FA
He had all that in Baltimore, yet wanted out.

He's had 1 good year. I'm not paying a premium for that. He would have to have his best seasons of his career after getting paid.

That's.....rare.

I'm not paying a premium to replace MVS' role, that's for damn sure. That can be done for peanuts.

Spend your money/draft capital on a legit weapon, then you can supplement with "specialists" for pennies on the dollar.

Hell, draft your player of choice in R1 and sign someone like Rashid Shaheed for next to nothing if you can't land the big fish in FA or trade.

But don't haphazardly spend $15-20M on someone like Brown.

If I can get Egbuka, just draft him, put him outside, sign a mid tier FA WR and go forward. Dont' overspend on it, play the kids and deal with it.
Assuming we do this I'd go for 2 mid level proven guys like Tyler Boyd and Curtis Samuels for example.

What makes me nervous is what happened last year. Big run on WR and we couldn't trade up and we're left with our dick in our hand. Obviously won't have to worry about that if we lose in the WC.

Even with so many good WR's we may see most gone. I'd expect at least 5 drafted in the 1st rd this year. Maybe 6.

We could have traded up, they didn't wanna pay what it would cost. That's what happens when you whiff on picks and don't develop guys. You have to go different directions or overpay.

I would like to have Brown at 15 million a year fwiw. There's no way he gets to 20, right? Dude has 1 season over 800 yards.

If I'm gonna swim in the FA pool for a WR, give me Ridley.

It's not gonna be easy - but Veach's job is to find someone through the draft, FA and/or trade that will be a difference maker, not a question mark.
You don't see the difference between paying a WR 15 million dollars and paying Richie James 1 million?

James was the top FA WR signing last year.

Ok, who?

Aiyuk won't be available for trade.

Look at SF cap hits.

They all in for 2 years, including next year. They won't take away any prime weapons in the window.

Aiyuk most likely is a FA 2025.

They'll trade him this offseason. They need to go add more on defense after this season.

I'd argue that the Cards overpayed to make Kyler happy, and for Kingsbury and that Gm to try and keep their job. Baltimore didnt send him out because he sucked. He had just had a 1000 yard season if memory serves. He was a first round pick who netted a first round pick with very limited control left. It's obvious arizona thought they had to have him and were willing to pay like you are Aiyuk.

I think they'll tag him after next season. They're going all in the next 2 years while Brock is still cheap.

After next season Brock will ask for his payday

My point wasn't that he's as good as Moore, Jefferson, et al. It was more about why I don't consider a "disgruntled" tag to be a problem by default.

Being disgruntled your team sucks (Moore, McLaurin) isn't an issue to me, any more than being disgruntled you're in a run-first offense that makes heavy use of TEs and FBs and has an inaccurate passer who can't make all the throws, limiting your snaps and opportunities (Brown in Baltimore) is an issue to me. Being disgruntled because you feel like second fiddle and want to be a bigger star (Hill) might be.

But to half-ass it with guys with question marks - no thanks, we've seen that movie before.
Evans would honestly be my preference at WR, too. Paired with a day 1 or 2 pick at WR to prep for him aging out. I just think it's less likely to be what the Chiefs prefer. But hey, maybe they change things up a LOT.
