I'm going to disagree with you how easy the throw would be. Running full speed to your right and throwing left is NOT easy...
He's an NFL QB and Fasano was 17 yards away from him...

There are just so many "He should have.." scenarios on that play.

He should have dumped it off to Sherman immediately (although I think he would have been stopped short).

He should have floated it to McGrath as soon as the corner commits to stopping Alex from running it in.

He should have seen a wide ****ing open Fasano in the back of the end zone.

Not in front of him, but there is a lineman coming behind him. If he slows down, plants and throws maybe he does have a shot blocking the ball.

With that said, If he just keeps running and waits for the defender to come off..he could have let the ball go just as he ran over the numbers and had a VERY easy shot.

We agree that he blew it, just not how.

My first week here I said Alex can't see the open receiver or just won't throw the ball. Take your pick on that one.

I haven't seen it this glaring very often, but the play I have cited many times is Randy Moss running across the entire width of the end zone waving his hands while Frank Gore is yelling at Alex and pointing to wide open Randy. Alex sees it at the last second and makes a terrible decision to throw the ball, which is intercepted.

8 year veteran. It is impossible to understand how he doesn't see at least one of those KC receivers in or on the end zone to throw to. It is like his brain goes into vapor lock in some cases.

Alex bffs will give every Alexcuse in the book over things not quite this clear cut.

Alex is a good QB who has severe limitations that can't be coached up. He has hit his ceiling. He will modestly improve in year 2 of Andy's system, but you guys know exactly what you have by now. You have seen all of the good and the bad. The smarts. The toughness. The athleticism. The scrambling ability. The hesitance to throw into a window. The hesitance to attack the secondary. The unwillingness to throw deep and stretch the field.

You know it all now. It drives me nuts when the Alex bffs blame his receivers for not getting open. There is nothing wrong with Bowe if Alex would just throw to him.

Man, this clip is heartbreaking. I've watched #84 over and over and over. Sean McGrath is so frustrated by Alex's unwillingness to throw, he literally collapses to the ground in frustration.

I keep watching it over again and wondering what he was thinking or saying as he just flung himself to the ground out of bounds in complete disgust.

He leaps as if with certainty the ball is coming his way, then just turns and does a faceplant as if surrendering to the inevitable disappointment of Smith refusing to try.

Watch it several times in a row. It is like a bad existential French movie with a doomed protagonist who knows he is doomed despite his hope.

Watching McGrath in this clip is like the movie "Das Boat" reduced to a single NFL play.

Great one handed catch too. That play is incredibly frustrating.

Alex is 30th in this stat.

In 2010, Cassel was 17th. He fell off to 29th and 28th his next two seasons.

Cassel > Alex

Has any other QB in history had so many passes/missed passes scrutinized so much? EVERY QB misses passes, and EVERY QB has room to improve. Especially the ones who are on a new team in a new offense with a new coach. Good lord, fellas. Have some patience.

He missed an opportunity. Still won the game. 7-0. Put it in perspective.

Wasting your time. I suggest you simply find amusement in it, or go to a different (mature) KC forum. There will be no joy for you in CP unless you take nothing seriously.

( I don't think people have even been doing that... but I have been hearing months-worth of SF people giving this excuse for Kaepernick, lolz )

Face it, dude, you have a sickness (obsession) that you can not let go of. Fans of Smith are not loving his every performance, but I can see them stopping in here. You still coming here? That's just ****ing sad and bizarre.
