The boy likes shrimp and tonight was his birthday. Made a Mediterranean shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. Pretty good and seemed fairly healthy. Garlic, parsley, tomatoes, lemon juice, feta cheese and shrimp. Wife and I both made it through birthday cake without giving in.

Thought I would jump in on this thread, and hopefully get some good advice.
Prior to two years ago, I had never been into "working out", but more into sports (basketball, baseball, etc..). Then, marriage, kids, career... quit doing much of anything and got "old and fat". 2 years ago, I started getting into Kickboxing. I was hooked, and now go at least 5 times a week (1 hour class). I also throw in basketball one night. Lost 30lbs, and now feel in pretty decent shape. But, I've hit a wall where I can't seem to lose that small "gut" of fat around my waste. And, my arms have actually shrunk (they are lean, lost all the "fat mass" from boxing). About a month ago, I started trying to eat differently. Started trying to eat every 2-3 hours, smaller meals, and attempting to eat healthy. I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, eggs, lean meat (more fish), peanut butter (natural type), oatmeal, yogurt, etc.. Try and stay away from boxed stuff, and anything with too much sugar and/or fat. I think I'm on the right track, but am still struggling getting that "gut" to go away. Any suggestions, or am I on the right track? Also, I'm wanting to increase my shoulder/arm "mass". Any suggestions to do before/after kickboxing that might help (15-20 minutes of something??).

Calories in vs. Calories out. Focus on that, and you'll lose weight. Cut your caloric intake and it will go away. It's easier to do low-carb, as it makes you feel fuller for longer on the same amount of calories.
But it still ALWAYS boils down to calories in vs. calories out. No exceptions. Increasing your arm and shoulder mass is easy. Do 2 sets of 13 (60 seconds of rest in between) of the following, 3 days per week: Dips, Underhand Cable Flys (2 arms at once), Cable Lateral Raises. |

Well, tonight is Chest/Triceps. Favorite night. Starting to try to take my wife to the gym in the mornings. I take my daughter at night. My wife hates going to the gym alone. I am hoping to get here comfortable enough to start taking my daughter, and then I can go alone. Because having to go twice a day is rather pointless.....
Yesterday was an 'okay' day as far as total calories.... but I didn't get enough protein. I am working to correct that today. Protein shake now. |

You probably need far less protein than you're getting. How much did you get yesterday?

Decided to fast today. I haven't had anything but water so far. I'm a little worried, because I'm planning on hitting it hard at the gym this afternoon. I can't decide if I should eat something before I work out or not. I'm worried I may bonk if I go to the gym without eating anything all day.

Yesterday, I did the P90X shoulders/arms workout plus the AbRipper X. the arms workout was decent, not as hard and exhausting as Im use to with my trainer, but I liked it. I need heavier weights at home tho. The AbRipper on the other hand was TOUGH. Granted, I have a hip flexor that is slightly peeved at running on concrete, so its sore, but JEEEZ! It was the toughest workout on P90X that Ive used so far.
For din din I had Turkey meatloaf and a salad... I did Cardio X this morning...Then ate steel cut oats with almonds and fruit.

I am so ****ing sore today. I'm scheduled for a 2 mile run without stopping tomorrow, and yesterday was the first time in my life I've ever run 1 mile. I don't want to go to the gym today at all. I hurt.
Sigh. See you all in a couple of hours. |

Nope. Didn't happen. Way too sore today. I'm going to beat on my drums for a couple of hours. I have some doubt as to whether that's really good for 593 calories an hour, even at my size, but it'll have to do today.

I'm doing okay on the fast for the day. Feel a little lightheaded at times. No drop in energy at all, though. Don't really feel hungry.

I ate plenty last night. Pretty much ate my 1500 calories after 4pm, but nothing except an energy drink before. This morning I woke up famished and ate a bowl of cereal and I'm already hungry again. |

We'll see. Regular BMs have never been a problem for me.
