Yeah, the Wilks firing is still puzzling to me as well. Especially since they replaced him with a gimmick coach who couldn't win anything with Mahomes as his quarterback. It's not like they brought in a proven winner.

It’s pretty obvious why they did what they did if you are capable of looking at the bigger picture.

They unexpectedly ended up with the #1 overall pick and their rookie QB gave them very little reason to pass on Kyler Murray.

Who would you rather have developing a QB like Kyler? An offensive minded QB coach or a defensive minded HC with absolutely no experience developing QB’s? Not to mention Murray has a unique skill set and his best chance of success was in a college style offense.

With Wilks as a HC, you’d have to worry about your OC leaving if Murray has any success whatsoever. Now that’s not a concern either.

This is why I made the Cam Cameron comparison. If you finish dead ****ing last you can get fired regardless of being a first year HC. There’s always a possibility that ownership/management want to go in a different direction given the #1 pick and a chance to hit reset.

Not the guy who couldn't win anything with Mahomes despite getting to play against Big 12 "defenses" most of the season, that's for sure.

So you’re saying keeping Wilks was the best option even with hindsight? Because Kyler’s about to win OROY after a solid rookie season under Kingsbury, so if you think staying with Wilks was the better option, you’re reeruned.

Even if they hired a good OC and had similar success with Murray, they’d have to worry about him leaving as early as this year. Of course Kingsbury was the right choice for the time being for the sake of Kyler’s development alone. How can you not see that?

Wilks wasn't fired because he was incompetent. Or for any other social reason people want to throw out there. He was thrown under the bus because his GM was a moron. It was Keim who hired a 4-3 coach and gave him 1 year to install it, who insisted on Mike McCoy (who was fired halfway through the season), who drafted Josh Rosen who's so bad he couldn't even start for the Dolphins, who got a DUI that led to him missing training camp at a crucial stage of Wilks' onboarding.

Kitchens and Cameron were fired because they were incompetent enough to get fired after 1 season.

Exactly how is only winning 3 games and being the worst team in the league not incompetent? They were 8-8 the year before. Did you even watch the 2018 Cardinals? They looked like one of the worst teams ever and probably would’ve won 1 game if Jimmy G doesn’t get injured. Get a ****ing clue dude.

Also, I’ve already explained why he was fired, but you keep choosing to ignore it even though it’s clear as day.

Who knows if it's bullshit but either way it seems pretty unfair that OC/DCs of playoff teams get screwed like this.

I've already explained this to you.

The Cardinals were a 3-4 team. Wilks was transitioning them to a 4-3. You don't fix that in 1 season. Steve Keim insisted on hiring Mike McCoy as OC who was so bad he had to be fired midseason. And on top of that Wilks had a rookie QB who still isn't any good. What kind of GM hires a 4-3 coach for a 3-4 and then fires him for now winning right away?

Are you kidding me with this stupid excuse? If switching to a 4-3 from a 3-4 in today’s NFL when you’re in sub packages 70% of the time causes you to go from 8-8 to 3-13 you’re completely ****ing incompetent!!!

That team was atrocious. They would’ve won 1 game if it weren’t for Jimmy G’a injury and your only excuse for how bad they were is a switch to a 4-3?

If that switch is so ****ing difficult how did the Chiefs manage to do it in one year with huge success? Oh that’s right the guys in charge are actually competent.

You’re so ****ing stupid it’s unbelievable.
