We attacked our needs with the best talent available.
WTF else can you ask for? All our WR's and DT's suck...

I was hoping (if quinn didn't fall to us) that we would take Bowe in the first round. Then, when it came our turn, I got the whole sick at my stomach thing as the chiefs have really dissappointed me for most of the last several years. Last year, I thought we should have gone after a receiver first.
I'm not exactly excited about the second DT. I think that we should have started filling some other holes with early picks, particularly with the OL. |

I'm okay with the draft. Not thrilled though. I preferred Meachem to Bowe. Time will tell. I didn't like the Turk pick at all. I thought we should've gotten Tank, and I'm not sure how high the Chiefs really are on him considering they drafted Turk ahead of him. I think Tank just fell in their laps so they couldn't pass him up. I'll trust that Herm knows what he's doing with Turk. Again, time will tell. I am happy we got Tank Tyler, but wonder what made the Chiefs not take him when he was projected as a 2nd rounder and Turk was projected as mid 2nd to mid 3rd. Seems they may have been able to switch those picks around and pick up the same guys.
Edit: The reason I'm not thrilled is I was hoping we'd address our need for an O lineman somewhere on the 1st day. I'm glad we picked up a receiver in round 1, I just hope we got the right one. |

I think Herm has a good eye for defensive guys as was the case with bringing in Jonathan Vilma a few years ago when he was with the Jets and last year with Hali Pollard and Page so if he likes these guys chances are they're good. As far as Bowe is concerned the more highlights I watch of the guy the more excited I am the one thing I'm slightly dissapointed in is our second round choice if only Steve Smith would've fell two more spots we woulda had him and our WR game woulda been astoundingly better.

What I love about the DT's are that they are high motor guys. And they don't have some bad injury history as far as I know. To me, that already makes them better picks than Siavii and Freeman and Sims. Sims' big problem is that he has no motor.
I love drafting Bowe, because I've been banging on the drum of first round WR for years now. About time we got one... |

I was referring to Kendrell Bell filling in the rotation while JA is on sabbatical. Then maybe backing up when he comes back or being in the rotation if he is productive. |

This isn't the Vermiel offense anymore. We addressed the running part of the offense by signing two tackles in the off season. (Yeah one of them has problems with impulse control and women.) That means that running the ball will be better, not so much a home run game like 2003 but better average than last year. But to go along with that you need to have good ball fakes and a big reciever to compliment TG in catching the tough yards and in blocking. You have Parker and Kennison for speed. Therefore I think Bowe is fits better than some of the other WR on the board.
Having addressed the offense, it will never be like the Vermeil era, the defensive need was along the D-line. And you have to take numbers. In the Cover-2 you rotate the D-line often and everybody is suppose to shift were they are playing to make the offensive line uneasy in their prep. The two selections are active and work this way. I don't know if they will work out but they are the type of player you want on an active front four. Speed is more important than size especially if you are rotating players in and out. I suspect we will keep 9 D-lineman. I'm guardedly happy with the picks. I'll save my rants about it all after we have signed the rookies and we see play.
