Sasha Vujacic's three pointer at the end of the game...

Hysterical.

The game is over, it's 97-92...the Spurs aren't going to foul...with about a second left, Vujacic decides to shoot a three, nails it, final score 100-92...

The betting line was 7.5

Hey hey hey!!! I didn't start it this time!

His name starts with an "H" and he adores a career backup QB who also has a last name that starts with an "H."

Becuase someone said, that Jordan didnt have a Gasol. I said, i would take Pippen over Gasol. I dont know if that is comparing. Its just saying i rather have him over Gasol and probably Lamar at the same time. lol

The Lakers don't run the tri like the Bulls did, so it's not entirely fair to say that Odom is like Pippin.

If you look at how each player is used, Kobe = MJ, Pau = Pippin, Odom = Kukoc. They have different skills (for instance, Kukoc was a far better shooter, Odom a better rebounder) but as an aggregate, they filled roughly the same roles.

It's something of a shell game when you try to compare guys like that. Just remember, Chicago probably should've made the Eastern Conference finals without MJ (got screwed on a fantom block against Pippin), the Lakers without Kobe are probably a fringe playoff team at best.

People are very quick to underestimate how good MJ's surrounding cast was, in large part because I think they feel like they're disparaging MJ somehow. Jordan had fantastic support during every season he won a title.

I'm simply unwilling to listen to people who refuse to compare Kobe and Jordan anymore. Kobe's competitive fire and clutch nature absolutely rival Jordan's. His raw skills do as well. The kid is as close to Jordan as we'll see for decades. If he ages as well as Jordan did over the next 5 seasons, I could see an argument that he will end up being at least Jordan's equal.

Appreciate what you're watching fellas, they're not as far apart as you think.

Your going to always have a few people that will say Kobe isnt on his level, but truth of the matter is, when its all said and done. He could be. He still has a ways to go though. Kobe's career is different then MJ's though. Kobe had a good team when he came into the NBA. Jordan didnt. He had to wait quite a few years before they finally assembled a team and he learned how to be a team players. Kobe came into the league with a pretty damned good team. Then when it got gutted. He had to try to do EVERYTHing, becuase he had no damned choice. Now he has a team built around him and has a good supporting cast and Sky is the limits. Kobe has already showed he can put up 40 anytime he wants to or have a average of 35 a game if he wanted too, but he doesnt have to anymore.

Are you nuts? Kobe's been doing the MJ clutch thing the entire playoffs. He's playing like MJ right now and if he does it for another several years... 7, 8, 9... who knows, then YES, the debate can commence between Kobe and MJ.

Look, I grew up watching MJ just like everybody else. That amount of greatness doesn't ever want to be seen by my eyes again because the kind of player MJ was was just PERFECT, and the memories of watching that guy play last a lifetime, but the fact is, I think we're eventually going to see another Jordan, and probably someone who does what Jordan did only better. And right now Kobe is the guy to do that sort of thing, if there's anybody out there.

I disagree with the clutch comment...I think Kobe can be clutch...but I don't remember Jordan ever blowing playoff series like Kobe's teams have the past few seasons...I can't remember Jordan letting him team down in the postseason...

Kobe is definitely in a league of his own in THIS NBA...that's for sure.

Lets look at Kobe's starting Line up after his team was gutted. Then we will take a look at the Bulls starting line up when it was in its prime.
2006 team
PG-Smush Parker
SG-Kobe Bryant.
SF-Luke Walton
PF-Lamar Odom
C-Kwame Brown

2005 team
Chucky Atkins
Bryant
Walton
Odom
Mihm.

hell, look at the rest of that shitty team. lol
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/2005.html

I dont know about anyone else, but, Kobe and Lamar are the only 2 players worth a damn from their 2005-2006 teams. Notible scrubs of the bench. Brian Cook, Cant count Chris Mihm He hasnt played in like 2 years. Devean George, Laron Profit, 18 year old Andrew Bynum. Fresh off of open heart surgery Ronnie Turiaf.

B.J Armstrong
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Horace Grant
Bill Cartwright

None of them players on the Bulls starting line up are detrimental to the team. Remember they also had Craig Hodges off the bench who is/was one of the. Hell, the best 3 point shooter of all time. Now for the 2nd run of their play off run.'

Ron Harper
Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Dennis Rodman
Luc Longely

This team also had Paxon, Kukoc off the bench.

Come on now. Jordan couldnt win with the 2006 Lakers.

Jordan wouldn't blow a 3-1 playoff series...ever. It wouldn't happen. And he wouldn't prove a point by not taking a shot in the 2nd half, either...

I am giving Kobe compliment after compliment in this thread...he looked a little like Jordan in the Spurs series...for sure.

But he's not nearly as clutch or as fierce as MJ was...and he's easily the fiercest competitor in the NBA right now...so that's saying something.

I think it's fair to compare Kobe to Jordan, but I don't think there is anything he can do to make me put Kobe=Jordan. If Jordan did not try to play baseball he literally would have won 9 titles in a row. Do you HONESTLY think that the freaking Houston Rockets would have stood a chance? Hell no.

Kobe would have ZERO, count them, ZERO championships without Shaquille O'Neal. Michael Jordan is also a much more prolific scorer than Kobe Bryant. Jordan went on an EIGHT YEAR STREAK where he averaged over 30 points per game and shot about .525 in that streak. I understand that Kobe takes more three's than Jordan, but Kobe won't EVER SNIFF shooting 50% for a season, yet alone eight years.

So, this is what Kobe is going to have to do to equal or come close to his airness. He's going to have to win the next five NBA titles. If he does that, I'll be ok with it.

So, is it safe to say that if Jordan didnt have Pippen he wouldnt have won any titles? We cannot say that if Kobe didnt have Shaq he wouldnt have won any titles. THey would have built that team differently. So we cannot call it one way or another. You take Shaq out and its TOTALy Difrerent. The way they drafted would have been alot differently. Mr. Logo who you have in your avatar wouldnt have left Kobe out there with nothing to help him develop.

People are going to go crazy when I say this, but Scottie Pippen is overrated. Scottie is a great player, don't get me wrong. If it wasn't for Jordan, he would be an good perennial All-Star who misses the hall of fame. Something along the lines of a Rip Hamilton. Shaq created his own legacy, and he won without Kobe. Look at the couple years he didn't have Jordan, was he good? Yes. Was he dominating? No. Thats not the kind of player he was. Paul Pierce is better than Scottie Pippen.
