Gaines Adams-DL-Bears Oct. 16 - 8:45 pm et

Bears acquired DE Gaines Adams from the Buccaneers in exchange for what is believed to be a 2010 second-round draft pick.
While Bucs GM Mark Dominik mails in the season by dealing off his most gifted pass rusher and nearing insertion of an underclassman rookie QB, Bears GM Jerry Angelo is in the talent acquisition business. Trading first-day picks isn't advised, except when the return is a 26-year-old with dominating ability and a contract through 2012. Jim Bates, who's clearly lost his touch, couldn't get enough out of Adams in his first season as Bucs defensive coordinator. It's a good bet that Bears defensive line coach Rod Marinelli will.

And pretty much the same thing all the other Belichick cronies have done but one..Dmitroff the one that has been successful.

The other thing about Dimitroff is that he spent years and years on the road as a scout long before he hooked up with New England.

The guy actually has ideas of his own.

I find that the 82 round arguments that tend to erupt on here tend to bring every possible angle to light. It also becomes clear who the people are that have an eye for talent. I'm not sure what the right mechanism would be to distill the arguments into a decision. Probably have a small group of secret voters chosen by me would work.

Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense for Chicago, although the value is there. They have Alex Brown, O-Gun, Mark Anderson and now Gaines Adams.

Coincidence...I think not.

I think Dimitroff did a smart thing by not trying ot force a new scheme, and he also had the sack to draft a QB at #3 overall, though I think that may have been at Blank's behest.

But the reality is, much of that team was in place before he took over.

Dimitroff made a couple of good moves, and stayed the course.

But don't go overboard in throwing credit his way.

I give him credit for not ****ing up what was already in place, the other Belichick guys couldn't even accomplish that.

Could be they want try to emulate the Giants, in order to match the kind of success they've had.

All that depth on D-Line, along with a franchise QB, makes the Giants a formidable opponent, and an annual SB contender.

Mark Anderson has also been disappointing to them after his rookie year, he's never been able to play like that again.

I don't know what Scott Pioli is trying to accomplish. I know what his goals are; we all want a championship. But I can't understand the ways in which he is trying to see those goals become reality. That is very frustrating.

It's too bad that Reaper leached this post from Mecca, otherwise I'd consider it pretty solid.

They have a MUCH better linebacking corps than the Chiefs do. Having someone like Elvis Dumervil (who is become a premier pass rusher and has really adjusted well to being an OLB) to compliment DJ Williams is sort of beneficial. They also have safeties who aren't learning disabled.
