So men...

Is it going to be Okung or Berry?

Is that what we think?

Right now I have 9:4 on a $50 bet that the Chiefs DON'T take an OL/DL/or WR...

So if they take Berry, I win $112.50...

I can also take Okung for $50 (hedge bet) and get paid 11/2 on my money...

So if they do take Okung, I lose that 9:4 bet I made MONTHS ago and end up coming out even better...

So IF I hedge my 9:4 bet with Okung, you guys think I'll be a winner one way or the other?

The thing that makes them both uncertain prospects is the fact that they took a huge number of snaps while in a 2 point stance.

People weren't concerned about Smith as a run blocker last year, especially when he was running his mouth at the combine about being a mauler. Gurus were slobbering all over his nuts about that.

I don't know if you remember or not, but I heavily questioned him as a run blocker coming from that system and that team.

Okung does have much more experience at it because he didn't spend his freshman year at TE and Oklahoma State actually doesn't have a spread based running attack.

I think Okung is a better actual OT prospect than Smith was, Smith was inflated because he was naturally athletic but when it came to actually playing the position he was not polished at all.

You'd only be happy until that money was gone. Then you'd remember that we drafted a guy with a defective asshole at number 5 in the draft.

Okung is a better day one prospect than Smith because of the difference in experience. I'd say that their upside is relatively similar, even if Smith is already looking bust-y

And Okie State still runs a lot of run plays where their OTs are in a 2 point stance, they just use the zone read less than Missouri, Texas, etc.

Well Smith's upside isn't his problem, his problem is that he was in no way prepared to do what an NFL team would ask him to do.

I'm resigned to the fact that 2 of the Chiefs first 3 picks are going to be an OT and a safety, if Washington doesn't take Okung it looks like the OT is going to be the first one instead of the 2nd one...

The thing that would scare me the most about Okung as a prospect is the game tape against Missouri. He really struggled against Aldon Smith, who he outweighs by a good 70 pounds.

I saw very little of that game, was he running around him or pushing him?

Okung has a problem with anchoring, if someone bull rushes he has a tendency to let himself get pushed back, he did gain some weight after the year which should help but a bit of NFL coaching should get him over that.

I would hope that maybe the Chiefs would think that they could get Jason Fox in the 3rd-4th and plug him in at RT in their ZBS. If he could put on 15-20 pounds in an NFL S&T program, he can be a ZBS RT.

Some of it was his anchor problem (as most spread LTs struggle with), but there were times when Smith beat him around the edge and harassed Robinson, even though he didn't record a sack.

Then again, it should be known that Smith could end up being a very prolific pass rusher in his own right, so it's not like he was struggling with Stryker Sulak.

I will say the thing that gets me about this OT class, is if you sit down and just watch all of them play.

The best prospect or the one you come away the most impressed with in just watching how he plays is Anthony Davis, that mother****er is a monster. Yet he's somehow never talked about very highly, maybe I'm not suppose to understand it.

Davis has "character" and work ethic concerns.

Yea that's pretty much bullshit, how does a guy who's leaving college 60lbs lighter than when he entered it have worth ethic issues?

Davis is 20, so he doesn't act like a married guy going on 40, I'd certainly hope he doesn't.

Lateness, showing up heavy at the beginning of last fall, etc. He's one of those guys that scouts will always ask "does he really love football?"

Regardless the guy is always impressive on the field, if he doesn't care it'd be hard to know since the guy is the most dominant of all the lineman in the class.

Here's what I'd say, if he's that good and you don't think he cares, what's gonna happen if you actually motivate him?

But more than anything I'd say Davis is who he is because he's 20 years old, he's just going to be somewhat immature because of that. He's basically still a kid, but he's far and away the OT in the class who can be a dominant year in and year out pro bowl guy.
