So I take it that Stanzi is injured?

Surely the Chiefs would want to get Stanzi some work if he was healthy.

Hate for the rest?

what are you talking about?

...

These are the things I think Dick is superior to Matt at:

Arm strength
Accuracy
Ability/mentality to push it down the field
pocket presence
mechanics
poise
ability to go through multiple reads to find the open man
touch
release speed
footwork

My hope is that they make each other better over the next few years and that one of them wins us some ****ing playoff games.

Dont care which one.

I agree. He is better than the starter. I am open minded but the "savior" was here before you started here, No disrespect.

I like Stanzi but I am no coach. Just had to rub in after tonight.
I can not figure out why he was not started. No Homo.

While I was watching the game (I fell asleep right after, hence not posting until now) and my impression was that they were taking a long look at Palko to either a) assess whether or not he can act as the team's primary backup, or b) try and showcase him for a possible trade scenario.

My guess is that they already know they're keeping Stanzi as the 3rd quarterback on the 53, and that it was more important for them to ascertain whether Palko could play in Cassel's stead, and whether or not they need to find some kind of veteran replacement either after the final cuts or via a trade of their own.

Looking at it in that light, I think playing Palko the way they did was absolutely the correct approach.

It's the 4th preseason game. Like most teams we want to rest our starters to make sure they don't get hurt in a meaningless game. That's why I think he didn't play.

Basically I was just acknowledging it as a possible scenario in the initial paragraph, albeit a remote one. I think in the second paragraph it should have been pretty clear that I thought that wasn't the case, that I thought it was about seeing whether or not they needed to find another backup.

I don't think any QB on the Chiefs would be able to do much behind such a weak o-line.
Why the **** we didn't get more help there through FA is beyond me.

Why play Stanzi? He's not getting cut. Haley had to see what Palko was made of.

What about the rest of the players? Stanzi didn't get on the field, but honestly we all know that he's made the team. Sure I wanted to see more of him because he's shown some intriguing stuff when he's been on the field.

But what about all the non starters? I guess the this means the cuts were already decided? The depth charts at every position? The only thing thats more strange than exposing the first teams for the entire game is not giving rookies and reserves a chance to show what they have one final time.

That was some odd stuff last night. I've been critical of Haley before and been proven wrong, but ffs I hope he knows what he's doing here,
