Gates is my personal favorite with Arthur Bryant's a second.
Non-KC - Sweet Baby Rays Best non KC BBQ places - Jack's in Nashville and Rendezvous Ribs in Memphis. If you could put some Gates sauce on those, it would be amazing. |

I'm partial to 3 Buddeez One of a Rind bbq sauce. Of course I make it, so this is sort of a shameless plug. It's not available at too many places other than McGonigles and a few Hyvees right now tho. Make with sweet pickled watermelon rinds as the thickener. Great on chicken and ribs.

Here's what I typically have in the fridge:
Firebug - #1 without a doubt. LC's original Gates X hot Blues Hog

Is that a store bought sauce? Or does it come from an actual BBQ joint?

Lawrence stores stopped carrying it, but I found a HyVee in Lenexa that still carries it. I'm trying to talk my friend who just opened a BBQ supply store in Lawrence to carry it. I'm sure he will.

Firebug and Blues Hog. Both sauces I use regularly. And both because of a thread a few years ago where both you and George recommended to try those two sauces. Excellent advice.

Gates replica sauce. It's a very close approximation to Gates original.
