The Giants are pretty uneven but they find ways to win games and superbowls.

Yeah, but they rush the passer, which is the most important thing in today's game. And they do it amazingly well. You can argue it's just as important as having a QB. Except on this board, where cornerback is the most important position on the team.

I agree, they do it very well. But at the end of the day, their defense is below average at best. They don't stop a lot of teams from scoring. Which is why they are stuck in 8-8 to 10-6 purgatory(aside from the annual Tom Coughlin 2nd half meltdown).

Man, this color guy is distressing. He won't shut up for one freaking second. Plus, his voice is grating and his comments are simplistic. Who is this guy? I'd like to send him a pie bomb.

I addressed that in my earlier post. The Giants don't WIN like great teams should. Hell, they backed into the playoffs last year. They are a 8-8 to 10-6 team every single year.

If we had the number of injuries to our defense that the Giants have had to theirs over their last few years, they'd have relegated us to Division I by now.

The Giants have been down to 4th string guys starting at CB for them with their top safety out. That's essentially like us starting Jalil Brown, Reeves, Daniels and Lewis.

And they still win because they have actual depth on their line, instead of a having a wealth of shitty alternatives masquerading as depth like we have.

They've also done a very nice job of creating a defense that fits their offense. When they get a lead, that pass rush makes them damn tough to come back against. Unfortunately it isn't really possible to create a defense that meshes well with whatever the !@#$ you'd call our offense.

Yeah but they also won 2 Super Bowls and shut down arguably the greatest offense in the history of professional football playing that way. I'd take their D over a top 5 defense that struggled to rush the passer.

There is no way on God's green Earth that Scott Pioli legitimately believed that this team could compete with a squad like this. These guys can run, they can pass, they can defend anything you throw at them.

It's just a very very good football team. It shows just how stark the contrast is between a real contender and the Chiefs. Even if the Chiefs executed at the level Pioli hoped of them, they still wouldn't be this good. The passive defense and super-conservative offense would put them at the mercy of any team that has the ability to mix it up like NY. Even if the Chiefs played their best game, they would still need the Giants to screw up in order to win; it's just the nature of the read and react crap that Pioli and his hand-picked coaches adhere to. They're not even going to try to beat you, they just hope you beat yourselves.

Newsflash Scotty - good teams don't do that. You actually have to beat them.

I watch teams that do nearly everything well and have no choice but to conclude that Pioli simply didn't care if this team won. There's no way he thought he could win with this 1-trick pony of a football team.
This is why we need Marc Ross. He can bring some of the Giants philosophy with him yet at the same time is young enough he won't be cocky and stuck in his ways like Pioli. The Giants put value in the 2 most important positions in football: QB and Pass rush. Piolis stupid ****ing ass drafted a backup LT and a ****ing McCluster clown instead of acquiring a 3rd pass rusher. **** him.

I would trade last years Chiefs defense for the Giants defense.

Please - the Giants beat Atlanta Falcons in the NFC wild-card game, they went on to expose the 15-1 Green Bay Packers in their home, and beat the 13-3 San Francisco 49ers in their home - on the way to the Super Bowl.

You lose all credibility when you don't get it right.
