Rent a Championship / Dosent bother me as much

I know it will sound like sour grapes, etc etc etc etc etc.

BUTTTTT

The way I look at it is like this, the broncos did what we did when we lured Montana here with the exception that he is still playing at the peak of his game vs. Montana on the downslide of his.

With that being said, its one thing to have a quarterback you drafted and groomed or a quarterback from another team that you built a great team around and you went to a super bowl when it was a team win.

I guess the reason I am not as bent as I thought I would be is because they paid him the most to come there but knowing that if he wasn't there the team is garbage, pretty much a 500 team at best. So you pay a guy and get him there at the end of his career, the TEAM isn't much, they just got lucky to get him.

Like someone winning the lottery and having more money than another guy who had a much better job, doesn't mean the guy who won the lottery is better, just lucky.

Denver as a team doesn't deserve the super bowl nor have they done anything to deserve it.

Manning deserves it by the way he played this year ( and his receivers) but the rest of the team was average at very best.

Put manning on 25 teams this year and he goes to the superbowl with them.

When people from Denver will brag on and on, its not Denver that got them there is was manning 1 , manning 2, and manning 3

Congrats Peyton and recievers, you guys deserved it.

The rest of the team.... Congrats you won the lottery.

This is a quarterback driven league. That's really all there is to it.

Without a quarterback, we were a team struggling to make 9-7 like every other team without a quarterback. A good season was 10-6. A really great season was 11-5.

But if you have a great quarterback, the low bar for a good season is the playoffs - and if you don't do it there, that quarterback is a choker who may never be able to get the team over the hump, and a great season is a Superbowl win. There's not much gray area there, but at least you're in the right discussion.

I have no problems with luring a great quarterback to your franchise who puts your team in the right discussion. The beautiful thing is that we have a GM who understands this better than anybody in the league. I hope he's willing to "rent" a few more AFC Championships on his way to a second induction in the HOF.

they were the ones smart enough to go get him and pay him, while the chiefs and everybody else sat back and watched. Didn't want to 'risk it'

Denver shows that sometimes you have to take a big risk if you want a big reward.

JFC, I used to blow off the "KC looks at the Denver game like it's the Superbowl" talk.

I am starting to believe it after time goes on. Pathetic.

There's not a single Broncos fan that went through the last 10 years that believes this at all...

The Broncos get Peyton Manning as a FA.

The Chiefs surrender two 2nd round draft picks for Alex Smith.

I'm guessing you missed the part where Manning himself picked what teams he wanted to meet and ultimately sign with?

You left out the part how the teams with the great QB's get the benefit of the calls and/ or non calls because of the fact its a QB driven league...

I think someone is still butthurt that he didn't come to KC or really even consider the move. Perhaps if we had won or even been to a Super Bowl since Richard Nixon left office, we might have gotten more consideration.

I love how so many people are throwing out how idiotic I / others are on these threads, like the love to bully people and when they are typing stuff in there computer they are really tough guys, but in person.... well then they won't say a peep. Cyber bullies can F### themselves, if you want to say it in person, I'm available.

My point of this entire thread was I don't want the Broncos to win no matter what, but if the options were a home grown talent or a good system quarterback

VS.

luring one of the top 5 all time quarterbacks of all time to there team to win a super bowl ( like the Miami heat) Then it doesn't bother me as much.

It still bothers me no matter what, just less because the only way and I mean the only way they do it is by getting him.

As Bronco fan I sincerely hope you guys give up on Alex Smith. Here's to the Chiefs finding the next Matt Cassell.
