He's a huge food snob - I get that to a degree - but I also like the sloppy shit food too - so YES I CAN be snobby - but I have a disgusting side that'll plate 6 White Castles or Krystals. I can kick it up around the right company and certainly when I have to.

People. Think about what it would cost to make a sub at any one of these places if you bought the ingredients at a grocery store. $10 is not unreasonable.

YEARS ago there used to be a deli in Blue Springs called 'Country Deli' - they served smoked slice turkey sandwiches on these really nice Kaisers w/ Poppy or Onion. They melted a thick slice of swiss (I think cheese slice width is crucial here) and IIRC they dressed it w/ mayo, mustard shaved lettuce and slivered onions - For some reason they didn't make it - But the sandwiches they served in that standard sheet of wax paper and a large garlic pickle - were about the best sammys I've eaten, ever.
Pretty sure - Jennifer (my sister) went to High School w/ the owner's son. |

KC Area, it's usually Lenny's subs in Lenexa or Mr. Goodcents
In the SD area you have to try Hungry Bears subs, excellent |

How an authentic New York deli sandwich? I haven't had one, but want to try one. If I ever take trip to New York I'll be stopping at the famous delis and pizzerias.

Which Wich is decent. Good grocery or convenience store chains (Publix, Wawa) are better than decent.

I find myself gravitating towards Mr. Goodcents; but your experience will depend entirely on the franchisee. Some shave their meat and cheese so thin you could read through it to save an extra buck. That's annoying.
Jimmy John's is a decent option. Those are the two closest chains to me; and the ones I frequent the most. |
