Really kind of excited about tonight. I trust Vogelsong. I agree with Bochy not burning up bum tonight.

Yeah, I had no problem with Finnegan there. I would have pinch-hit for Herrera, but if you are going to stay with him in the 7th, then at that point Ned pretty much did what I would have done.

I've been a Ned defender (well not really defender of him, so much as opponent of the idea managers win or lose many games)....but hitting Herrera there was just mind-boggling.

From what I've seen Yost has done a fine job this post season.

This team seems to respond to him. Not to beat it to death, because I've mentioned it many times in the recent past, it's true though.

I think you almost had to have Herrera pitch to Pence though. If Dyson got out then it would have been all moot, and Aoki more than likely would have pinch hit to start the 8th.

Because we had to give up the opportunity to score a run in the 7th to make that happen.

let's put math on it

we had about a .05% chance to score a run with Herrera at the plate

now, you pinch hit Butler for him...

we have a 80% chance of Dyson stealing 2nd base

then we have a 27% chance of Butler getting a base hit

so we probably had close a 1 in 5 shot of scoring a run there

...and how many blown saves have H D H accounted for this postseason?

I side with Yost. Gotta start the 7th with Herrera. Good move, IMO

That 20% of a run is a hell of a lot more valuable than any potential downside from having Finnegan start the 7th, after Herrera already pitched in the 6th.

I totally disagree.

I like Finnegan, but his sample size is very small. He was roughed up a bit in his last appearance in the ALCS ... and this is the World Series.

Ned played it fabulously if you ask me.
