Here's my situation - I'm hoping that someone can give me some direction.

The only live TV anyone in the house watches is sports - KU & Chiefs. With all the gaming & streaming we do, I have to pay for unlimited data with Cox. We have several of the Amazon Fire TV box, a Cube, and a Stick which is what we use to watch everything. There is no reason for us to have cable.

I've been reluctant to cut cable 100% because I don't want to have to worry about being able to watch my sports. I don't want to have to go to a bar to watch, or try to find a stream that will work efficiently, etc.

I haven't looked at Youtube TV until today, but it appears that it would have all the channels that would carry 90% of the games I want to watch. Has anyone with Youtube TV had issues being able to watch the games? Or are there cheaper alternatives that would work better for sports?

In the 10 months that I have had Youtube TV, I have not had any problem watching a Chiefs or KU game. This doesn't include the KU games that are on ESPN+, of course.

That's great. I've got ESPN+ as well so those are covered. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be struggling to find the games to watch.

I’ve been very happy with YTTV for live sports. Easy to program. Unlike ESPN+ it will ask if you want to join a game in progress live or watch from start.

But given that the only thing I use it for are the ESPN channels $50 seems expensive. Occasionally watch hockey on NBCSn.

Thought about Sling but with extras for the DVR and NBCSn wasn’t sure the savings were worth it.

You might want to look at the FireTV Recast device. It's a FireTV device with an OTA DVR. You plug your OTA antenna into the box, and set your DVR to record your local OTA channels. Your other Fire devices in the house can then communicate with that DVR to play recorded stuff so you can share the DVR.

Regarding YoutubeTV, the only reason I got it was for local sports. And for that, it kicks ass. Unlimited DVR is very cool too. You can simply tell it to record all NCAAM/NFL/MLB/NBA/etc games, and watch the entire weekend of sports whenever you want.

Only for 2nd gen devices and newer. But it's the best YoutubeTV interface by far.

If you're planning on getting an OTA antenna, go to antennaweb.org, enter your zip, and it will tell you what channels you can get and even what type of antenna to get.

So, I've signed up for Philo since they appear to have most everything we want, and ordered a 200 mile range antenna from Amazon. I'm cutting loose on Tuesday. I'm sure I'll have some growing pains figuring out what works best, but I'm actually excited. Thanks for all of your input

We have been using an OTA antenna that I installed in the attic along with Philo for the last few months. Philo has most of the channels that we watch, but I do miss ESPN, and regional Fox Sports. My son and I watch the Royals and he also watches the Thunder on Fox Sports Oklahoma. If I could find a way to stream those for a reasonable price, I would be set.

Also...when he's here there are 4, 4k tvs in the house. There are a few things that will spike the **** out of your net usage.

4k streaming will do it, 4k streaming will use about 7-8 gigs an hour. Online gaming and all that is small peanuts really but when you get into digital gaming where you have to download things that will absolutely wreck your usage.

OP

Who is your internet provider? I have Comcast and.with internet service only you can get "FleX" for free. Flex allows you to access comcast's library plus Pandora, Netflix plus Prime from one source using XFinitiy's voice remote. It does bring in 4g streaming.

Just but the internet service that's right for you and only use 1 interface.

Just my 2 cents
