Day 1 - AFCW Thoughts

Ok, so Day 1 is done... what are your thoughts so far on how the AFCW teams drafted? Admittedly, I was unable to watch much college football last year, so I don't have much to add on some of these guys.

Chiefs:
R132 - RB, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (LSU)
Day 2 Picks - R2P31 / R3P32

Raiders:
R1P12 - WR, Henry Ruggs (AL)
R1P19 - CB, Damon Arnette (OH St)

Day 2 Picks - R3P16 / R3P17 / R3P27

Chargers:
R1P6 - QB, Justin Herbert (ORE)
R1P23 - LB, Kenneth Murray (OU)

Day 2 Picks - none

Broncos:
R1P15 - WR, Jerry Jeudy (AL)
Day 2 Picks - R2P14 / R3P13 / R3P19 / R3P31

I think the Chargers were trapped into taking Herbert there - maybe should have traded out. I like Murray, but they gave up a lot - they're SOL on Day 2. I can't really argue with the other picks by the Raiders or Chiefs - it's all value and who do you figure is better in your system.

Chiefs - I have no idea about which RB was the better option or if they would have fared better by taking Xavier or someone else.

Very glad Denver didn't have to move to get a WR - was holding out hope that Wirfs might make it to them, but that's how it rolls.

Denver needs a few things today, starting with OT/C... then they can look at DL, CB, would like to see a QB with last pick of R3 or in R4, depending on who is there. You can't invest in all these weapons and then not have someone viable if Lock gets hurt.

What are your thoughts on Day 1?

Tom Telesco is actually a really good GM, this year he either got his captains for both sides of the ball or he ****ed his dog...it's gonna be that kind of turnout.

His defense improved, but he hitched his offense’s wagon to Blaine Gabbert.

He’s going to waste a lot of really good defensive players with this draft. Sucks for them.

That was my immediate reaction to the Herbert pick and then again to the Murray pick.

“All of that talent on defense going to waste”

It’s so obvious that is what’s going to happen there.

I can already see them playing us tight for 3 and a half quarters before our weapons wear that defense down and Mahomes takes over to win it.

It’s going to happen over and over and over. We’ve been on the other side of this enough.

Some interesting looks at Day 2... don't care for the CBS draft as much. Always interesting to see how vastly different these things look right now.

The AFC West is transitioning to an all offense, no defense Big 12-like division.

I must remember to revisit this thread at the end of the season.....if we have one

For the record I`m guessing Ruggs will be paydirt for Vegas....

Murray’s gonna be a stud, character and talent to spare... but they don’t have the program/staff to do anything with Bobby Hebert besides ruin him

Even though I allowed for the idea that the Chiefs could take a RB, I didn't think it was a probability. However, after watching every highlight reel I could last night, I think we might have gotten a steal with "El Aire." Lots of potential with this kid. Solid "A" pick.

Raiders are obviously trying to emulate the Chiefs with the Ruggs pick. Not sure what the plan was with Arnette, but he's talented, so we'll see. B-'/C+.

Chargers had to pick a QB. Not like they're going to rest easy with Tyrod as their QB past this season. Never watched Hebert so i can't speak to his potential. And Murray was a solid pick at LB. Of course, as a Sooners fan I might be biased. But I know if we'd picked Murray, I'd have been really happy. Solid B.

Denver did well picking Jeudy. Solid WR. B+.

Have not digested all of Day 2, but I’m loving the Cushenberry pick. And I’m intrigued by the two WRs. Still believe they need an OT, but we shall see.

Donks might only lose by 14 now...

Horseface got an immediate raging hard-on when the Packers selected Love....hoping he can get a 38 year old Rodgers "in his prime" once Lock flames out.

BTW Jeudy scored a whopping 9 on the wonderlic...which is just barely above basic motor functions. Lamar Jackson scored a 13....if that puts it in perspective.

I'm sure he and John will have lots to talk about....

Agim McTelvin was a very good pick as well.

I swear over the last few years, I never really care for Elway’s starts, but he usually does a good job in the mid to late rounds.

What you thinking? Might try to score double digit points against KC this season??

That burner from Penn State should be a really nice addition. Didn't want to see him at any other AFCW team.

Yeah, Carr is no Mahomes, but there isn't a QB in the NFL today who can really compare to Mahomes.

I love both WRs the Raiders added in the 3rd. Combined with a TE that is maybe a half step behind Kelce, a stud RB, and a damn good OL, Carr can play like a top 10 QB. Last year he actually had his best year from a yards per attempt and all that crap, and we had dog crap at WR due to our mistake trading for AB and Williams playing hurt all year.

Not enough to threaten KC, but maybe a playoff spot.
