My understanding on the meniscus is it doesn’t take near as much time to recover from as say an ACL, or Achilles, but the bad part of a meniscus is it can contribute to degenerative arthritis in the knee because it is your primary shock absorber between the femur and tibia.

Guys, it's just a meniscus. They just make a tiny cut, feed in the scope, and trim the flappy meniscus piece. It's very simple, fast, and easy to recover from. He'll probably need about 1 stitch.

If they trim the meniscus it's usually a 6-8 week recovery time.
If they stitch/sew the meniscus recovery is about 12 weeks minimum - maybe longer.

He had the surgical repair because Rapoport said it is a 4-month recovery. So not the trim, but the stitch option. Better long term outlook.

Depends where it tore , might not have had the option to just trim, and eventually you have to keep going back to and keep trimming anyways, it could still some years off of his career though.
