What kind of wallet are you packing these days?

I'm in the market for a new wallet and I'm not sure where to head. You can buy cheap wallets for three bucks or you can spend $100+ on a wallet.

I've done a needs assessment, and decided the following:

I need enough room to hold approximately four cards: a couple of credit cards, a driver's license, and a health insurance card.

I need a place to hold cash, and preferably a hidden or non-obvious compartment. I'm a baby boomer so I will always carry cash because you never know when the Soviets will launch a nuclear strike and destroy civilization and we'll need paper money to exchange for cans of beans or survival knives. That's how boomers were raised, so don't question me on it.

It would be nice to have some other little compartment for miscellany, like my discount card for the grocery store that's 1/8 the size of a credit card.

I've historically carried my wallet in my right rear pocket, but I'm open to moving it to a front pocket.

I'm kind of intrigued by the phone case that doubles as a wallet, but that means that I'll likely need a new wallet whenever I get a new phone, and that seems wasteful.

What do you have? How do you like it?

Mine is brown. I'd tell you the brand but that was worn off probably 20 years ago.

I haven't carried a wallet for years. Instead I have a phone case with card slot. Can carry two CCs plus DL. Don't really need anything other than that.

If I need cash, which is exceptionally rare, I'll use a money clip. Who in the hell even accepts cash anymore, besides strippers and drug dealers?

Ssense.com is running their spring sale right now. I got a Burberry calfskin bifold wallet on the private sale. It was about 40% off. I considered a few others including a Junya Watanabe distressed leather trifold (ruled out because it had a coin pocket which I hate in wallets) and several Comme des Garcons Wallet wallets. They’re pretty straightforward but have some interesting colors. End clothing has a sale on the CdGWallets.

Came here to say Ridge. Great wallet. Small, compact. Takes getting used to if you came from a normal back pocket wallet, but I won't go back.

I have a cheapo depot front pocket wallet from Amazon.

Front pocket is the answer. Harder to steal better on your back, easier to use.

Front pocket is the answer.

I have a wallet with the new version of RFID: “Rolling Frenchman ID”. The new technology blocks French bicyclists from running into you when you carry the wallet.

this thread made me realize that I've had the same wallet for at least 15 years. It's not really something I think about.

This guy gets it!

For the last 25 years +/- I have had a Swiss Army Leather Card Holder in Black and now newer one bought in 2017 is Tan. Fits around 25 cards. I have an assortment of a few business card, credit cards, membership cards, SS card, a few photos, my Drivers License, used to keep an RFID card from a prior job on the outside pocket making it easy to swipe. I tuck any receipts I need or lottery ticket in the pocket behind my license.

It holds a LOT of stuff if needed.

I never carry money in a wallet, it goes in your front pocket. You NEVER want to lose both your wallet with credit cards and all your cash.

There are knockoffs for less than $9

I carry it in my front pocket.

They have many different options and wallets but I will never use any other wallet.

These look so uncomfortable having a rigid piece of metal in your pocket.

What am I missing?

Everything. It's the size of a credit card and fits nicely in a front pocket.

I have a z-clip. Mine is the Sonoma, other than a little of the paint wearing off it has worked great for the past 8 years. My cash feels a little more secure than using one that utilizes an elastic money clip.
