Postseason ref watch

According to Football Zebras, Clete is an alternate this weekend, which typically rules them out of divisional weekend.

Notably not among the alternate officials: Carl Cheffers.

Maybe the league is mad at Buffalo for refusing to finish the game, and wants Cincy to win.

Who's secondary is more grabby? That's what Cheffers is brought in for.

You saw how the first round of games was called with officials most of us never heard of. Flags were at a minimum and teams were allowed to play very physical football on both sides of the ball. I have zero complaints about anything I saw this past weekend. It’s how the league should be reffed every single week, and they proved it’s not that hard to do if they want to.

So there’s no reason we should be talking about any game altering penalties for this weeks games with Blakeman and Cheffers out there. Just call it down the middle. That’s all anyone is asking. No phantom holding calls when Mixon busts a 30 yard run, no weak PIs when a Bengals corner breathes on one of Allen’s receivers. Didn’t see any of it last round, so it shouldn’t be an issue next week if they’re all reffing by the same standards.

Easy peasy.

It’s not our game I’m worried about, it’s the Bills and Bengals.

I think there’s literally zero chance Cincy is coming out of that game with a win, no matter how much they deserve it. Hope I’m wrong, because I’d love a second shot at those assholes in Arrowhead for another AFC Title.

I agree with this past weekend... unfortunately, there was still plenty of obnoxiousness around here about how the refs were all about the Bills winning yesterday and helping the Jags (or was it the Chargers, wtf knows), etc.

It was definitely a facepalm moment seeing his name tied to Bills/Bengals... everyone is really looking forward to that game for obvious reasons and hopefully they don't **** it up with inconsistency or some massive bullshit.

It's far more reeruned around here though, where basically every call against the team you're rooting for means it's rigged, no matter how blatantly correct it was... fascinating how no one in the history of rigged bullshit has ever said "I'll be damned, I figured they'd rig it for team x, but they must actually want team y to win!" ...it's just whoever they're rooting for at the moment.

Yeah, you definitely won’t catch me complaining if the divisional round is officiated like this past weekend. They certainly weren’t perfect, but not once did I feel like they were blatantly favoring one team over another.

That’s all I’m really looking for. I don’t expect perfection. I prefer when they keep flags in their pockets on both sides if there’s not something obvious. Just let them play ball. They absolutely did in the Wildcard round. It was the most entertaining weekend of football all season.

Yeah, I was really impressed overall (minus the Dolphins looking like a high school team)... completely the opposite of last year, where several games were like 21-0 and completely not competitive at all. I had even lower expectations with all of the backup QBs, but it was a great weekend.

Who cares who refs ???

If the Chiefs do their jobs it doesn't matter who refs. People who complain about the refs on this board have never played the game is my guess.

Hochuli is middle of the road...so I'm relieved, TBH. I have no clue how that Buff/Cinci game is going to get skewed, given how terrible that crew is. Maybe Buff? Maybe Cinci? I have not idea. I have to admit...I was convinced Cheffers would get the game that had the chance of featuring Brady...but glad it didn't turn out that way. Seems like they're saving several of the "let 'em play" refs for the CG's and SB.

so um, hate to say it

but the super bowl refs are picked from the divisional round

so we have a 50 percent chance of drawing cheffers or blakeman in the SB
