This. Half of these garbage QB's think they can hold the ball for 5 minutes on dropbacks.

Paying the LT who couldn't stop a speed rush to save his life and also was responsible for getting Mahomes hurt?

That's a bold strategy

I didn't like either one of them. Didn't like OBJ as our LT and dont like Taylor as the RT. I was ok with paying Taylor what he got if he converted over to LT which is what we expected.

But again, if you had to make a decision, who is better OBJ at LT at 31mil + whoever we get for the 30mil saved. Or Taylor at RT for 60mil guaranteed, which are you taking?

Which would you rather have?

OBJ + Jakobi Meyers for $52mil guaranteed

Or

OBJ + Hopkins for $41mil guaranteed

Or

Jawaan Taylor for 60mil guaranteed?

Or he could be looking into the future and realizing they can’t afford signing Taylor to a huge contract knowing that Josh Allen (their JA) is having a career year and will be a huge priority to sign as will Lawrence.

Is your OBJ contract based on what Cincy gave him or what KC offered him?

Yeah giving Orlando this contract would have been a disaster

Quote:
Schefter says the final offer from K.C. was a six-year deal worth $139 million with an average salary of $23.16 million per year and a $30.25 million signing bonus. The contract would pay $95 million in the first five years.

What Cinci gave him. You can look back at the OBJ contract thread. I was NEVER in favor of making him anywhere close to the highest paid tackle. What Cinci gave him was fair value for his talent level.

Not defending Taylor, but that is not a completely fair assessment based on the fact that he’s been targeted by the league because of that Collinsworth comment despite other RTs doing the same thing.

Then your comparison doesn’t work as KC was never signing OBJ for what Cincy gave him. That died the moment KC lifted his tag and he found out exactly what the league thought of him.

Ok, give him 31.1mil guaranteed then.

Regardless, 80mil for Taylor was wayyy too much given how he's played. It's just wild to be in a position where a player commits a penalty so much, it's accepted and the blame is in the ref for the 5% of the time they call it. Dude should have adjusted after he got 10 penalties his rookie year. But instead here we are, with him committing the same penalties except now they stall our offense which is already having a hard time finding footing.

And I can agree with you on what they are paying him vs producing. I am not going to say that all of his penalties are a product of the refs and he should have adjusted by now. He hasn’t and I am willing to give him an offseason to fix it. At the same time, if his alignment was such an issue why has Andy and Heck not fixed it either? I also am willing to acknowledge that at least the beginning of the season he had a target on his back.

Officials are pretty much letting his alignment issues go. He only has 2 penalties off that this year and I think they both came in week 1. The issue with the alignment is moreso it's forcing Trey Smith to have to block a bigger area and he's not good at that. He's more of a phone booth mauler type blocker and that's why he's being beat so often this year.
