John Mayberry on the other hand was super nice laid back and cool, and stopped by my cage to give me some pointers.[/QUOTE]

Met John Mayberry at a sports bar during early Marty Ball era. I grew up in the same neighborhood, but I knew the kid that had his lawn-mowing on lockdown, so I never met him back in the day. Nice guy.

Closest I’ve ever come to an awkward interaction with someone of notoriety was Dante Hall. Went to say hello to him before a Chiefs game and shake his hand and at the exact same time I came up to him he dropped his sunglasses on the ground and broke them. Guy was immediately irritated so I awkwardly walked away cause he was too bothered to say anything back.

Bo was his favorite player right up until that moment. After, he traded away all his Bo baseball cards because of the interaction. Thinking I may still have a few of them in the attic (of course I capitalized, who wouldn't? it's freaking Bo Jackson).
I'm surprised by that interaction with Bo Jackson. I got his autograph as a kid outside the K twice. This was at the peak of his fame. Bo was pretty much the only player who stopped walking to their car to take time to sign for a large amount of kids all while dragging his young son behind him.

A friend in college had a little brother who was in the same grade as one of Bo's kids at school. I guess they had gone to birthday parties at Bo's house. Said it was a great even and the whole family was super nice.

My opinion of Priest changed that day. I understand that an athlete is under no obligation to sign anything from anybody. But the way he rudely turned that kid down was shocking. Maybe he had his reasons. But you could definitely tell the kid had downs syndrome, and was just so excited to see the players, especially Priest. The kid was even wearing a #31 jersey. Un-****ing believable how it all went down.
I think Priest lives here in San Antonio at least some of the year. I've never seen him, but I hear he does a TON for charity and kids around town. He's had an annual kids event where he buys a few hundred kids fishing poles and teaches them to fish. I keep forgetting to try and sign my son up for it.

I tried to get an autograph from Charles Barkley back in the 1980s while he on his way to the team bus after a game. I was a basketball junkie at the time.

He said, "Not today, kid" and kept walking.

I was disappointed when it happened, but now I totally understand. Plus, just being spoken to by Barkley was almost as good as getting the autograph.

Chatted with some of the Cowsills family at a Heart of Illinois fair performance after everyone had left. Seemed to enjoy us treating them like regular folks. Didn't even want autographs from them. I was hot for that young girl singer that was about my age.
