Clinksdale just mentioned on 810 that Croyle was tossed out of a drill. WTF?

Croyle has talent, he's just not built for the NFL. I'd be nice if it was only the Herm curse, but I don't believe that.

Fumbled a snap and botched the play.

Gailey wants more offense, too

You're not the only one impatient with the Chiefs offense. Coordinator Chan Gailey wants more, too.

"I’m a coach so I don’t have reasonable expectations," Gailey said today. "I have unreasonable expectations.

"As a coach, you never feel satisfied. You never feel like you’re 100 percent ready. You’re always fighting to get the next thing better. It’s an ongoing process throughout the year."

The starting offense failed to score in four possessions in Saturday night's preseason opener against Houston, though heavy rain could have been a factor.

The Chiefs scored only 10 in the loss to the Texans.

"There are things we can build on but there were probably a few more issues than we want in out first ball game," Gailey said. "We turned the ball over and we can’t do that. We’ve got to create some bigger plays down the field. We’ve got to be more consistent in our third down production.

"We’re still trying to put everything together, trying to find out exactly the direction we want to go in all phases: first down, second down, red zone. There are some things that have been solidified but it’s a work in progress."

**** you Gailey! The playing calling last game looked like the play calling before Thigpen. Run for a yard, Run for 2 yards, Throw for 5 yards.

Chan should just come out and say "we wanted to work on the running game."

Either way, I certainly liked what I saw from Corey Mays on Saturday. He looks like an actual playmaker and he's younger. Those are the kinds of players I'm counting on Pioli finding.

The Chiefs offense showed some spark with the running game in afternoon practice. With the ball on the offense's 1-yard line, RB Larry Johnson burst through the left side for a long run. Several plays later, RB Jamaal Charles did the same thing on the right side.

Chiefs K Ryan Succop hit a 52-yard FG into the wind on a "mayday" FG play, where the field-goal team has only 18 seconds to get on the field, set up and get the kick off. Nice play by the rookie.

QB Brodie Croyle suffered the wrath of Chiefs coach Todd Haley when he fumbled a snap and then botched a pass play. Haley yanked him from the drill and sent in Matt Gutierrez. "Come on Brodie, you can't do that," he yelled. "We're counting on you."

In a continuing search for an effective returner, the Chiefs were using RBs Jackie Battle, Javarris Williams and Jamaal Charles in today's practice. Last week, WRs Rodney Wright and Quinten Lawrence handled the returns.
