Look at it this way - shouldn't we view the WR room similar to how we view, say, the OL or DL? Maybe not identically, but along similar lines. Guys have different roles when you're looking at 2nd tier players (you can't expect a Tyler Boyd to be a viable X, Y and Z).

So if we're looking at OL and say "man, we need a LT..." - why should a solid veteran OG be someone we're excited about?

That's Tyler Boyd. He's an OG when we already have Smith and Thuney. And should either guy get hurt he'd be nice to have, but at full throat, he's layered.

I'd take a lesser version of a complementary player over a safer, more established version of the kind of guy we already have. DPJ being a nice example here - he's limited just as Boyd is. In a vacuum Boyd may be the more desirable player. But if we're at full gallop, DPJ can play alongside the guys we have and be very useful. Boyd, OTOH, wouldn't be, IMO.

Yea, you treat the WR room like a basketball team.

Ideally, you have guys that can do it all.

But those guys get drafted in the top 10 and paid alot, so you gotta piecemeal it

Good analogy.

In a perfect work you have 5 guys who are 6'8'' and can play anywhere from the 1 to the 4.

In an imperfect world, you find guys who can fit roles.

With our available cap space, we're in the latter. So if that means finding a deadeye shooter for your 2 Guard and an undersized pass-first distributor to run the point - so be it. You can't run the offense like you would've in the first scenario, but you can still make it work.

62 catches 728 yards and 6 TD's.

That's about his average. In today's league, that's about what 15 million per year buys you on the market, no?

I'd be happy to have 2 WR's that were just good at the same time.

Having 3 would be instant elite offense again.

Packers hit on 4 really good receivers in the past 2 drafts...all 2nd to 4th round picks too. Not sure how they do it.

They draft a lot more guys than we do.

After Rice I wanted to grab Downs or Tyler Scott.

We don't take enough guys if our strategy is to also basically ignore good value in FA.

They've invested 3 day 2 picks in a WR the last 2 years and will certainly use at least that on another WR this year. That's 4 day 1-2 picks in 3 years.

It's a dumb narrative.

Jesus tapdancing Christ you are a whiny little girl. The Chiefs have been to 4 Super Bowls in 6 years and won 3 of them. I think they know how to construct a team and use the resource they have available a little better than anyone on this board.

I guess it looks better if you are crediting them for draft picks they haven’t made yet.

Simple minded drivel.

Veach built a great defense but at the expense of the offense.

He has also horribly mismanaged the WR room.

The QB and defense bailed out his bad decisions there.

Eh, have you seen some of my mock drafts and offseason plans?

I'm pretty sure, the Chiefs use them as blueprints.

That won a gawdman Super Bowl! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading this site over the last several weeks

Once the QB started playing up to his level, the offense was good
