That's just not great logic though.

They were helping Texas all day, but then had to call them on several things for reasons? They'll ignore only certain things for the benefit of Texas, but not when it REALLY matters, like the two point conversion?

To answer your question though, the first DPI on the long pass was very questionable, IMO.

And again, I'm rooting for the upset and ultimately don't care... it's just insane to think the refs want Texas to win and then they call 10 penalties (or whatever it was) on them in the final 5 minutes and make it as hard as possible (except for not calling the targeting, of course), when they could have just ignored a penalty on the 2 point conversion and Texas probably wins.

But the 'real time' call DOESN'T require intent. You can have an inadvertent targeting when it's helmet to helmet contact against a defenseless receiver and I think that's an obvious example of it.

I'm not positive that's how the rule works, but I think it is. The review penalty requires intent and you could argue there wasn't intent there.

But it never should've come to that. it should've been a penalty on the field and that one I know doesn't require intent.
