Hello Chiefs fans! I didn't see an introduction thread / room so I figured I'd introduce myself during my first post. I'm a Patriots fan but not a troll, I simply like discussing football and talking with folks who might disagree with me, it's far more interesting and productive imho than talking with folks who share your perspective. Due to that, and due to the fact that Mahomes did what he did last year (and the state of the rest of the AFC in general) I found myself wandering over here from the Pats Planet.

My hope is that as long as it's apparent I'm not here to flame, troll, and act like a jerk, I'll be treated fairly. Rest assured I know I'm in 'hostile territory' so I'll be on my best behavior.

As far as the Antonio Brown signing, it stinks to high heaven. I'm hoping the league investigates, because even though there will be those who think the Pats own the league whom will not accept if the Pats are found to have not tampered, I think most will look at the way Deflategate turned out and will at minimum not assume the league will always automatically find in the Pats favor.

It would make me feel better about it at least, because right now it makes no sense. Antonio Brown isn't just misunderstood, regardless of what Gruden says, he's a cancer in an organization and he went from content to asking to be released within a Month. Assuming the Patriots make the playoffs again (which is never guaranteed but seems likely) he seems like the kind of guy whose distractions and BS can torpedo a run. IBWT I guess, but I'd honestly been hoping he signed with the Chiefs.

So unless Belichick knows something we don't (which of course he does but you know what I mean) this seems like a terrible mistake and a totally unnecessary gamble. The Pats have the most complex offense in football, almost no one contributes when coming in mid year, and our WR room already has too many guys with minimal experience in this offense. Where's the upside to go with the huge downside?

That's why I understand why people think this *had* to be all an act, and tampering, and even if I don't think the same, I'd love to see an investigation. Besides, Deflategate is ancient history, the team could use some new material to feel like they're the persecuted underdog ;-)

We’re the only AFC team with a truly elite level talent at QB for the long-term.

Agreed. This seems to be a pretty blatant act of wrongdoing. I'm not familiar enough with the rules to say whether or not the Patriots or Brown should or can be penalized but this whole charade set a precedent that needs to be addressed one way or the other.

I'm pretty sure you're crazy if you think this is rigged. Why would Brown go from $30m guaranteed to $9m guaranteed, and further damage his poor reputation just to play for the Pats?

The fact of the matter is he's a headcase, this could easily blow up on the Pats and could literally end with AB out of football if he blows up again and refuses to play for the Pats at any point this season.
