Rumors: cleveland looks to trade more players: Josh Gordon
Josh Gordon Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz and Speculation Surrounding Browns WR
BY JOSEPH ZUCKER (FEATURED COLUMNIST) ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2013 ![]() The Cleveland Browns' fire sale may yet continue as the team has reportedly made wide receiver Josh Gordon available. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are willing to part with Gordon along with fellow wide receiver Greg Little: ESPN's Adam Caplan adds that Gordon has actually been on the trade block for "several weeks": Gordon is returning to the field in Week 3 after serving a two-game suspension at the start of the regular season, following a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. He came into the season with some lofty expectations after his rookie year, in which he caught 50 passes for 805 yards and five touchdowns. This news is exactly what Browns fans won't want to hear. It comes the same week as Cleveland essentially gave up on the 2013 season just two weeks into the season, first naming Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback over the banged-up Brandon Weeden and backup Jason Campbell, and then trading Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts. For a fanbase as tortured as the Browns' it will hurt to see yet another talented offensive player be pushed out the door. Only 22 years old, Gordon will continue to improve, and he's the kind of player a team can build a receiving corps around. The fact that Cleveland is thinking about offoading him is arguably more surprising than the Richardson trade. However, if Cleveland is really in rebuild mode, it would make sense to cash in now on its most marketable asset and prepare for the future. The trio of Joe Banner, Michael Lombardi and Rob Chudzinski have a definite direction they're taking this team. They're not afraid to burn some bridges in the short term if it helps the long term, either. Only time will tell if the plan works out. |

It's not that Crabtree didn't do shit, it was that Smith preferred to throw to Davis because he was a deep threat.

I would get Gordon now. He'll suffer through two more years of Alex Smith and when we finally wise up and get a real QB, we'll have something special.

Smith will never find him? Gordon runs plenty of crossing routes and shorter stuff as well as comeback stuff. The difference is he does get separated way faster than any WR we have on our roster.
Notice that these are just a few examples, and most routes are less than 10 yards or just passed it. He simply gets space between himself and his guy is a short amount of time as well as a shorter distance. Bowe isn't going to get that separation that quickly except maybe 1 or 2 times on 100 plays. Avery at times has gotten free that quick, but he is a midget compared to a big target like Gordon. Not to mention he's probably 1/10 the player and talent compared to Josh. The difference is Gordon is not just a deep threat that wouldn't be utilized by Smith, but has above average speed to go deep, but the size and power to be a weapon in the 3 step drop to pick up chunks in YAC and the potential to break it at any time.

@RapSheet: #Browns have had talks for WR Josh Gordon, but source tells me no trade expected by Tuesday. Belief is it’d take at least a 2nd rounder.

Sad that this thread steams forward and all for naught most likely, and I will be a bit sad come Tuesday and then the degree of that will depend on if he stays with Cleveland and rises exponentially if another team does get him and based on if it's for reasonable compensation. Or, if Denver makes a move or more than 1.
Major chatter for potential moves by Denver before the deadline include and I think would be a nightmare if they were to pull off, because Elway strikes me as a guy with no problem in doubling down and knows the window of opportunity. Jared Allen (DE) Vikings Jarius Byrd (S) Bills MJD. (RB) Jaguars The 1st 2 I really don't want to happen.

we wont give a 1st round pick and don't have a 2nd.
I'd give this years third and a conditional 2nd the following year based on play. We really need a wr who has his combination of talents. That being said, we also really need a TE. So? |

I guess there is nothing wrong with dreaming about something that won't happen.
