well, so much for that. Burke just missed 3 shots at the third station, he'll have about a minute worth of penalty laps to ski, no chance at a medal.

Burke finished a minute 9 seconds back, which is less than what he probably lost from the 4 penalty laps. He would have won gold if he shot clean.

For those still following curling, the USA women's team was destroyed by Canada 9-2 in only 7 ends. USA decided not to bother playing out the last 3, and conceded the match after the 7th.

Are they broadcasting the non-U.S. games somewhere today? I haven't looked really hard, but haven't found them yet.

Both the men's and women's U.S. curling teams have been about as good as a steaming pile of poo.

Their website says it's on NBC right now...

http://www.nbcolympics.com/tv-listings/index.html

I'm watching online, the online streaming is really good. It's free as long as you have cable (I got someone's TWC account number so I could sign in with that).

The Czechs just tied it at 1 at the end of 1 period.... the 6 best teams in the world play today. Russia/Czech Republic now, Canada/USA at 6:30, and Finland/Sweden at 11. Four of the 6 will get a bye going into the quarterfinals.

Gawd dammit. NBC is delaying hockey too? Christ...

At least the USA-CAN game tonight is on a different station and, therefore, is actually shown live. I'm beginning to really despise NBC's coverage.

Well, I wasn't really planning on keeping the thread updated with this game anyway. It's well worth it though, with Ovechkin, Malkin, and Jagr... and Datsyuk, and Kovalchuk, and Elias....

Oops, gotta go wipe off the keyboard.

I asked him about the ice, and if it was better than where he plays in Phoenix, and he said "Yeah, the ice is much better here than Phoenix."

I come for the hockey, I stay for the tough questions and in-depth analysis.

No joke. I wish the U.S. team all the best, but man, they've got nothing in terms of star talent compared to these other teams. If they somehow squeak in for any medal, they've got to consider that a major accomplishment.
