Unless they can overhaul Alice's brain to make him no longer afraid of throwing downfield and making plays instead of checkdowns, any offensive "overhaul" in the offseason won't do much.

Would peyton manning get more out of this offense than Alex Smith?

Absolutely. Tell me something. Without Julio Jones, and Roddy White, how has Matt Ryan looked?

This is Alex Smith. Smith without phenomenal talent, is Matt Ryan.

Don't tell me that talent wouldn't help alex smith.

Great weapons make mediocre qbs look great. Have for years.

yes, elite qbs can make okay talent look better, it can also work the other way.

Even with a great qb, the talent on the chiefs would still be mediocre.

Its that bad.

Including Alex Smith. Hes included. Everyone on the offense outside of Charles is in that Category.

Well done. Even when Manning was in Indy, he had Marvin and Reggie to throw to. Now he has the best set of receivers that I've ever seen. We don't even have 1 guy starting for us that would make their team.

I'd rather take my chances with a new QB and a few offensive upgrades.

Well..

Gates has had a great career but he's in the twilight of it. All those "unknown weapons" look pretty good because Philip gives them a great chance to succeed. The Pats are 7th in the league in scoring at over 26 points per game with less skill position talent than us (seriously). Hey, if that's what dogshit looks like let me get a taste...

Matt Ryan sucks so I'm not even going to argue against that point. A lot of us here recognized that before this abortion of a season.

But to your point, Alex had AMAZING talent everywhere in San Fran and he did no more with it there than he does here. That offensive line during his tenure was probably the best in the league, the running game was consistently one of the best, he had a top 2 or 3 receiving threat out of the TE spot and Crabs, Manningham, Randy Moss, etc at WR. It doesn't get much better than that..

And people are forgetting Julius Thomas. Its quite unfair.

A lot of people on here are talking about why the Chiefs didn't blitz more.

That's why. THe Broncos had far too many weapons to risk blitzing. Especially with Peyton getting rid of the ball as fast as he was.

Assuming we stand pat at QB in the draft; I don't know how camp is going to go, but if it and the preseason transpire the way I believe they will, I'd start Bray immediately.

If only we had Geno, right guys? Geno who has now reached the 20 turnover plateau and threw another pick-six before being benched again.

Forget TD to INT ratio, he's got 8 touchdowns to 4 pick-sixes. Maybe we should call this the Geno ratio.

Even if AS had Jerry Rice in his prime the outcome would have been the same. He is a risk-averse inaccurate QB.
