I'm pretty happy. I drank that thing 3 hours ago and my belly is still full. I could've just as easily eaten a chicken breast or something but I wanted to try it out.

Well, as of this morning, I have officially hit 20lbs lost on the scale. I have been at 18.5lbs lost for about two weeks. It's nice to finally hit the 20lb mark. I am working out and have added visible size to my arms and shoulders, back and chest. It has been 6 months. So, I have probably lost at least 25lbs of fat.
Oh, and I got ten neutral grip pull-ups last night. Highest number yet. All in all, feeling pretty good about where I am at and where I am think I am going. Today is an off day, but I think I am going to try to get some cardio in today. Maybe a run, or go to the gym for a little bit. |

That is the brand that I use. I like it. It is much better than the Body Fortress that I was using. I do it in the morning. I usually take 8oz of skim milk, 1 scoop powder, 2oz of coffee, four ice cubes, put it all in the blender and I have a good morning drink.

Got up this morning and had a nice workout. Spent a little more time doing bench and pullups, so I didn't have time to get my last set of the KB circuit in, which is a bummer. That's the set that really kills because it's got the most reps. I did increase my weight on TGUs and H2H swings (at a 16kg kb now), so I feel a little better about missing that set.
Came home and had two poached eggs on a bed of raw spinach with a bit of feta cheese sprinkled on top. Ready to rock out the day. Pondering protein powders. I'm sort of ideologically opposed to the whole idea of protein powders and supplements, but I do wonder if I need them in order to meet my goals of being bigger, leaner, stronger.

So I went to the doctor today to get some blood work done. I have a history of Diabetes in my family and have been battling some extreme fatigue for the last couple of months.
I went to the KU health center and the doctor I saw started asking me about my diet and I just told him in general I'm eating more whole foods and trying to cut calories(I said nothing about fasting or how much I was cutting, I have about 1500-1800/day except my fast day). He then went on a lecture about hibernation/survival mode and the slowing of your metabolism. That just struck me as odd since in Eat Stop Eat, he said that every MD he's talked to has agreed with him that your metabolism could not slow down by calorie restriction. |

I just had a shit-ton of blood work done--Hypoglycemia is what they came up with....My doc went on a tangent about not eating processed foods and all that. The problem is, I spent an hour with him just before that describing my very whole food, organic, salt-free diet. ![]() The frustrating part for me is that I have many of the thyroid issues, brittle nails, fatigue, memory loss, mental confusion, hard time losing weight etc...my thyroids were in range, but t4 and T3 were riding the low line and they just blow it off. "You're fine". So I continue on with the battle... Yesterday I did chest, back and some legs. The first half of my workout was pretty tolerable...the second half was rough! Lots of crabcrawls, squats with 25 lb plates and pulling 35 lbs on the cables (at the same time), jumping push-ups, mtn climbers...I burned over almost 700 calories in 65 mins... I ate pork tenderloins medallions with lots of good spices (no salt) and blanched veggies with carrots, summer squash, sun-dried tomatoes and asparagus...yum. I did have soy ice cream--about 1/2 cup (200 cals). Im a chick, and sometimes chicks need sweets ![]()

You've been busting your ass with this. You earned it and I hope it was as delicious as my pizza was last Sunday.

Thanks, man. I figure I still came in well below my calories for the day due to fasting the rest of the day. Having a light eating day today as well.

Right now I'm trying to work something light in every couple of hours just to keep my metabolism working for me. I've found that to be much more difficult and I'm not sure why. |

I've always been a slimmer guy, I normally weigh ~160 lbs. The biggest I've ever been was when I was a Junior/Senior in high school and I weighed 170 lbs (I was working out 5 times a week).
Although I've stayed in decent shape in my four years since, I recently decided to start to take my health a bit more seriously. At the same time, I decided to go ahead and increase my "sexiness" and pack on some lean muscle while I was at it. Here's the the workout regiment: Workouts 3 days a week-- chest/back on one day, legs the next, and bi's/tri's/shoulders the next. Here's the diet: I eat as much as I can (I'm trying to gain weight). I'll have a cereal with a full banana for breakfast and a pasta for lunch. After a workout I typically eat a steak, spinach salad, and a full tomato. In between meals I try eat as much as possible (normally nuts, yogurt, small pizzas, etc.) **** Gearing up for spring break (lawl), I've decided to add an EAS Myoplex protein shake to my after-workout routine. Lastly, I've started using SuperPump as a pre-workout supplement. This shit is pretty awesome... you feel like you can work out all day. ![]() The results have been pretty damn good |
