It's just such a shitty situation for him and the team because there's not a long-term solution here. The concussion issue will never go away for him and I don't see how he can stay at C now because of that. I've always been adamantly opposed to the 'move him to G' argument, but it may well be the only way to save his career at this point. And it's doubly shitty because it was such a fluke thing that got him blasted; a (maybe) cheap shot that just took his legs out from under him. It could've happened to anyone. But there's some selection bias at this stage of the game. Fisher got wiped out on an interception return in that same game and he didn't get a concussion because he just isn't as prone to them. He took a harder blow to the head there than Morse did. But now that Morse has something of an eggshell skull...man, I just don't see a happy ending to this.

Can't give the guy any guaranteed money to speak of when he's literally one hit away from never playing again. He's probably going to be out of the league by this time next year. I absolutely hate it for the guy because he's a genuinely good dude, but it's just damn hard to escape at this point.

Morse should retire and be a coach IMO. I think he’s smart enough to do that.

Not too worried about Houston honestly. Speaks has been good throughout his 3 games filling in for him.
1.5 sacks, forced fumble, recovered fumble and would have had another sack on Brady if it weren’t for him being worried about the rules. He’s certainly flashing.

Well, yes, he’s probably smart enough. But it’s not as if being some mid-level (at best) coach and a starting OL are comparable in terms of a paycheck. The guy is in what should be the prime of his career in terms of earnings potential. It’d be a real stretch to think most guys who have spent their entire existence preparing for this moment and the compensatory upside would proactively retire to remain in the game as a coach. The guy can still play and will.

So it's looking like Houston back for some playing against Arizona, then hopefully full speed (as full speed as he gets these days) for the Rams.
Berry after the bye at the earliest. What's the deal with Morse? Anyone ever heard of concussion protocol lasting this long? Sucks that it was a bullshit cheap shot too. |

And Houston is also a much MUCH stronger player; just a damn lot more stout. You can put one guy on Speaks and win more often than not. Houston requires a double team. There's no real comparison between the 2 at this stage of their career. Houston does literally everything on a football field better than Speaks does. His return would be massive. He may not be a $20 million player anymore, but he's absolutely an upgrade on Speaks.

With Houston being out its given Speaks valuable experience. He's going to be counted on as a rotational player come playoff team. Having 3 competent OLB's to rotate and apply pressure will be huge come January.

No sign of #Chiefs LB Justin Houston at the start of practice. Will see when injury report comes out if they backed him off. Andy Reid only expected limited work from him. But WR Tyreek Hill was out there receiving kicks with other receivers.

How stupid is it to have your #1 receiver receiving punts/kicks...
