Good luck getting an early 2nd+3rd for 29-32. The Ravens traded pick 52, a 2nd round pick in 2019, and swapped 4th round picks with the Eagles to move up to #32 and draft their new QB.

This.

I’m sorry but there’s no way I’m giving him a 2nd contract.
Figure something out but don’t extend him after a recent career year.

I’m not saying I want them to trade back, I’d actually rather them trade up—I’m just saying that there’s a lot of potential scenarios to look at that probably shouldn’t be completely ruled out.

I’m hoping they see a stud CB, safety, or ILB fall into the late teens/early twenties and they pounce on them.

-7th (SF)

That’s a decent set of picks to work with. I’m sure Veach will make a trade or two, but as it stands, that’s 8 chances to find cheap pieces for the roster. It’s been said a lot but this draft is going to be critical for KC.
Bennie Logan I forgot about that turd. Its criminal we got a comp pick for him!

I guess you could franchise Ford and make him prove it again. That's probably a better idea but the cost could skyrocket.

He might be the difference in winning them a Super Bowl in 2019 if he plays like he has this year, and he could still make that difference for 2018 as well. I’m not sure that’s worth the 2nd round pick.

You’d get a 2nd and whatever money you save from not having to tag him

Our pass rush is our one redeeming defensive quality. A franchise tag obligates us to pay one season's top salary. It allows us to keep the option to continue to franchise tag the guy in the future if he replicates this season's production.

Ford is the EXACT player we should franchise. One who hasn't been consistent but MIGHT be coming into his own and MIGHT be worth something more.

The problem with Berry has been the multi-year commitment to an injured player.

Nope. Absolutely opposed to trading out of the 1st unless you just ream a team.

You do NOT give up that 5th year option unless you get another top 60 pick for your troubles and even then I'd far prefer package up our seconds to get another pick at the back of the 1st.

If someone wants to send us their 1st for both our 2nds and 3rd - done. I'd probably want a 4th coming back there but it would depend; could probably live without it as well.

I'd honestly try to ship my 3rd out every season for a 2 the following year then try to make that deal again season after season. Then flip the 3 for a future 2nd, rinse and repeat.
