Pics of one fast '55 Chevy

This '55 Chevy belongs to a buddy of mine. He's 70 years old. It's best time in the quarter mile is 10.39 and 129.6 mph. Pics to follow.

Well, shit. I think the car guys would really like to see it. The bad thing about the '55 Chevy is that they are so heavy. It was before the extensive use of plastic and light weight metals. Not many of them will pull the front wheels off the ground like that.

What kind of image is it? Irfanview is a good option for most any graphic and simple resizing.

Can you do it if I would email it to you? I would need your email addy. It's impressive. It shows that '55 Chevy doing a wheelie. I've never seen another one do that.

Sorry, browser froze up on me and I was working on a wallpaper for someone, otherwise I would have done it.

irfanview is a great tool either way.

That’s sweet Skip. I love the “rat rod” look too. Screw the paint job, the moneys in the motor.

FWIW, N00b "muscle" car

Gotta '96 SS Impala.

I always wanted a sports car, but not a 2 seater...kids and all. I didn't want to get too old a car. I like stuff with A/C, decent radio, power things for a daily driver. I had an '53 Chevy Pick-up that was a daily driver for a year. It got old. There was nothing that piqueted my interest.

Then one day something passed me. COOL CAR. But I didn't know what is was. I'm not much of a gear head. Two months later, same thing but this time I saw the name. Gotta get me one of those.

I found the cheapest one I could on-line. I bought it, sight un-seen and had never driven one. It was in Indy. The drive back on I-70 was a hoot. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. The car was totally stock. As I was driving, I was thinking of all the stuff I wanted to do to it. Again, I'm not a gear head and didn't want to be spending nights on my back on the concrete floor messing with it.

Back on-line, found a fully moded SS in Austin. I didn't care about the price. So I ended up with 2 SS's. The wife threw a fit. Of course I didn't tell her about my plans to purchase them. And did it both times when she was out of town

Anyhow, sold the first one and still love the 2nd. I'll have this one until the wheels fall off. Then go back on-line, ten years from now and buy another one

If anyone cares, I can post the mods.

~crawling back under my rock~

BTW, am I considered a N00b or a Lurker?

Lemme guess. Some brand of “Cool air intake”, another brand of “cat-back exhaust”. Some overdrive pulleys and a “hot chip” for the computer.
That sound ‘bout right?

Nice ride. I would've gone with something better looking than flat black, though.

Yep , guess that stuff is pretty common. The old owner kept going. There's a two page list of the stuff...aluminum drive shaft, mod that re-centers the rear wheels in the wells, sequenceial rear brake/turn signal lights, front lowered 1", better brakes, stronger suspension, a tranny switch with 3 power selections etc.

There is an old county rural road that loops around my house with nice banked 90 degree turns. When I want a rush, hop in and blast through 'em

I tell folks, it's a Corvette with a back seat and a trunk
