On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was the youngest man elected President; he was the youngest to die....

Just wanted to post in memory of JFK.

I was only three months old when JFK was shot, but I've always found the stories people tell about where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news interesting.

I was not born yet. I would like to point out that many Presidential historians are now of the opinion that JFK was merely a average president. We tend to romanticize his presidency due to his charisma, youth and the fact that he was assassinated. I would also point out that a president's popularity does not equate to presidential greatness. Truman was reviled during the majority of his last term but now many historians categorize his presidency as "near great".

Again, my reasons for posting this were that it is coming upon the anniversary of the sad event, and I wanted to do something in memory of him not to mention the stories people have of their own experience of the event. Having said thus I recognize that the greatness of his presidency or lack thereof, depending on ones point of view, is fair game. I think nearly all would concede that because of this event US history was altered.

I would like to keep this away from DC if possible.
