We need to draft an 8-technique tackle, In addition to performing the roles of a 3-technique, he can slice, dice, and julienne fries, cut through soda cans and then a tomato...just like Ray Lewis.

How many Big East pitchers (baseball's equivalent of 1-aa football) have started in the Majors in the last 20 years -- 2?

Charles Nagy (Conn) and Matt Morris (Seton Hall)?.....Nagy is retired and Morris has a white beard, so they didn't break in yesterday.

The Shark had a crappy ERA at N.D. to boot -- University of Minnesota pinned 6 runs on him in 2 innings 10 months ago....

Big East is garbage in baseball.....He beat West Virginia in the B.E. Championship game, but yielded a 3 run HR to Stan Poszulzny (Paul's bro) and still won the game....

But here is the key point: Stan Poz was WVU's best hitter, by far, and wasn't drafted in 50 rounds last year, despite the fact his brother was big folk hero in Pa.

Regardless of his skin color, he was 2 football All-American and got the first invite to the Senior Bowl of all the receivers

I really want us to draft Okoye or Adam Carriker in the 1st round.

This might just be an infatuation, but I am getting really high on Carriker. I think he could actually give us an interior pass rush, and he wouldn't be a weakness against the run either. He seems like a bigger version of Tamba or JA: very hight motor, but also a lot of athleticism.

With JA, Tamba, and Carriker all starting I think we would have three d-linemen that are all consistent, high-effort, 50+ tackles, 10+ sack potential guys. OK, maybe not 10+ sack potential for Carriker playing inside, but I think he would do a good job of getting a push on passing downs. JA and Hali would have both had 10+ sacks this season if our DTs had any ability to crash the pocket constantly.

Nebraska defensive end Adam Carriker has probably been the most impressive defensive lineman in Mobile this week, though Louisville's Amobi Okoye isn't far behind. North Carolina State's Tank Tyler, Ohio State's Quinn Pitcock and Michigan's Lamarr Woodley will likely be high picks as well.

What's somewhat depressing is the Buffalo Bills have almost the same exact needs as KC and they pick before KC.

Here is a tidbit from their website:

SENIOR BOWL THOUGHTS: It was disappointing to see that Cal CB Daymeion Hughes is not going to play Saturday due to a back injury suffered in practice Wednesday. He's described as a 'cover 2' corner with great hands and cover skills. He doesn't have top end speed, but thoughts on that could change at the combine. I just wanted to get a good look at him after not seeing much of Cal this past fall.

DT Amobi Okoye is dominating down in Mobile this week, but unfortunately he's not nose tackle material after weighing in at 287 Monday. He was listed as 317 prior to Senior Bowl week so I was hopefuly he'd be an option for the Bills with the 12th pick, but I just don't see it now. Cal's Brandon Mebane however, has had a nice week on the interior and has pushed the pocket. Again I want to see more of him on Saturday, but the early signs are encouraging.

I guess when it comes right down to it, I'm still wishing the Bills had Haloti Ngata, the Oregon DT who went to Baltimore. I really like Donte Whitner as a player, but man I would've liked to see Ngata clogging up the middle for Buffalo.

I was hoping that LSU's Dwayne Bowe would be available to the Bills in Round 2 as Buffalo needs a big wideout opposite Lee Evans to take some of the heat off him. But with the week he's having in Mobile he's likely vaulted himself into the middle third of the first round.

ILB Patrick Willis from Ole Miss has been having a heck of a week according to reports. If London Fletcher isn't re-signed Willis might be the best option at inside backer in the draft.

Speaking of Fletcher, the more I look at Florida State ILB Buster Davis, the more I'm convinced he's a long lost cousin of Fletcher. He's built the same way (5'9" 240), he overachieves like Fletcher and he has a high football IQ.

Are we going to run a 5-2 next year, because Carriker isn't a DT. He may be 300 lbs, but he's much more suited to be an end in a 3-4.

Take it from someone who lives in Lincoln. We want no part of Adam Carriker.

Is he a good player? Yes but he's perfectly the wrong size.

Undersized as a DT and either too big or not fast enough as a DE. His pass rush isn't that great.

To me he seems like a young Eric Hicks.

It seems to me that he would work out pretty well as a DT in the cover 2. He certainly seems to have the motor and pass rush skills. Hell, DEs in the 3-4 are more like DTs in the 4-3 then DEs. I don't really see why we shouldn't target him as a DT.
