Thank goodness Allen is gone.

If Allen were not traded, the Chiefs don't go 2-14 last year. The Chiefs don't set the record for fewest sacks in a year. The Chiefs don't have massive changes.

CP probably would have stuck it out at least another year. If not, the Chiefs would have probably gone with Kuharich, whom most believed was being groomed to be CP's replacement.

With CP or Kuharich, and a decent season, Herm Edwards would be strolling up and down the sidelines right now.

The reality is that it took a total shit season to cause the massive changes with the Chiefs.

And, with Jared Allen.... the Chiefs would have not had a massively shit season.

Heck, with Kuharich, Herm and Allen, the Chiefs would in fact be better than they are right now. I truly believe that. But, they would still be mediocre.

This is painful. This is the worst I have ever seen as a Chiefs fan....even worse than the 80's.

But, as bad as it is, I would rather build something with Pioli that I think can be great someday, than continue to be a 'decent' team over the next 20 years and struggle to win a playoff game.

So, yeah, Allen had a great game last night. (don't forget the line he faced was worse, much worse, than the Chiefs) Allen is a great player. But, the loss of Allen gave us more than just a few picks. It gave us a new GM. It gave us a new head coach. It gave us a new foundation. It gave us a new direction.

So, good riddance Jared Allen.

Which, in the AFC West last year, may have actually ended up with them in the post-season depending on how they played against the division.

What leads you to believe that by getting worse we are getting better? This is where your whole line of thinking is flawed. By getting worse you are in no way building for the future. Although there is a lot of parity in the NFL its a lot easier to go from good to great than it is to go from the horrible to great. We are moving backwards IMO.

You think by getting rid of Allen, drafting Albert, Charles, and Morgan is building towards a championship or something?

I'm not just saying this now, check my history and I was bashed regularly on this forum for saying how dumb it was to trade JA.

Keeping Jared Allen isn't necessarily building for a championship either. We didn't even play in a championship with DT, let alone win one.

There's so much more to it than just trading Allen.

We'd be a hell of a lot closer to a championship with JA than without. Players like him don't come very often, you keep them. I'll never understand how some people think we are better without the best DE playing.

JA trade was terrible. Okay you don't want to pay him even though he is one of the top DE's in the game. Ok fine but why did you turn around and draft 2 DL and pay them way more money than him and they are more than likely going to bust. You guys will say its a different system, ok fine that excuse works for Jackson but not Dorsey he was supposed to be a cover 2 UT.

The JA trade was probably one of the dumber moves this franchise has ever done. Trade a YOUNG All-Pro DE for draft picks, yeah, that will build a winner.

No it is pointing out what KC did. Trade an All-pro DE for draft picks and draft two very expensive rookie DL and pay both of them more money than Allen wanted. Not to mention the one DE is one demensional.

JA was one of the best things to happen to kansas city, too bad CP was too stupid to see that! He dominated as the best DE in the league, a young talent with nothing but the sky and we trade him! JA was 1/2 our defensive production and we would be a better team today if he was still a Chief! JA, Tony G........2-28, not sure I can take much more!

It'd be tons of fun watching this regime turn Allen into a 3-4 OLB so he'd look like Kampman in GB.

Sorry I was referring to the OP.

I think it takes some twisted mental gymnastics to come to the conclusion that the Jared Allen trade was a good thing.

Yeah, I wake up everyday and say "Whew!! thank God we didnt keep Jared Allen!!!"

And Im also thankful for picking Glenn Dorsey instead of Ryan Clady... because I'd MUCH rather have Glenn Dorsey instead of him... and I thank God everyday for giving us Brandon Albert, DuJuan Morgan and JaFumble Charles... I'm MUCH happier with those three instead of Jared Allen and Ryan Clady...

See... you can build championships around JaFumble Charles, Morgan and Glenn Bustey...

So, Im completely happy with this.

woo ****ing hoo!!
