Sounds like us. Just replace Ferentz with Haley/Muir

Racist. You're only saying that because he's black.

I'm not buying that the coaches aren't playing Stanzi because they don't want him to get his ass kicked vs the Patriots. The Patriots defense sucks I think there would be nothing better than to start Stanzi because the chances are he throws for more than 200 yards would do nothing but give him confidence.

Agreed. Then again, I don't think that is the reason he isn't starting at all.

In the pre-season games I'd say Palko and him were the same although it was hard to judge because Stanzi didn't get much time. I think the reason why Palko is the backup is because of his relationship with Haley (which would be bullshit) but that's why the guy kinda deserves to be fired.

Stanzi didn't get the playbook until the start of training camp because of the lockout. He has a lot of physical skills, but just isn't ready to start. That is the simplest, and most sensible, explanation for why he isn't starting.

That's the problem. There was no open competition for the backup spot. Palko got to play with the first string in the 3rd and 4th game. Stanzi didn't even get a snap in the final game.

How is that different than any other rookie QB?

It's also hard to judge pre-season because they weren't using the full playbook. That is where Palko is way ahed of Stanzi, knowing the playbook.

I think this would be the perfect scenario for Stanzis first start.

Oh well, good things come to those who wait, I guess.

This is what we've become. We're debating the merits of a fifth round rookie, who is a statue in the pocket that will get destroyed behind this o-line, being our savior at QB going forward. This guy is the next Pat Barnes, but this fanbase is so hungry for a real quarterback that we will polish up any turd that comes down the pipe.

First and second round picks got their playbooks during that day the lockout was lifted.

Everyone else had to wait till TC to get theirs.

Most head coaches don't start rookies unless they are exceptional rookies and there is no better option. Right now Palko is the better prepared QB. Hopefully that will change, but I think almost all NFL head coaches under these circumstances would do the same as Haley. Throwing a rookie that is not ready to the wolves isn't in the best interest of the team or the development of the rookie.

I think Haley and Zorn think a lot of Stanzi and want to bring him along in the way that will best develop his skills for the future. According to Haley they don't believe he is ready yet. I agree with them. He may end up starting yet this season out of necessity, but starting him before he is ready can hinder his development.
