Clearly the best use of police time – seven plainclothes agents busting one terrified 20-year-old for carrying this:

Sounds like a ridiculous Will Ferrell comedy - Cops take it too seriously and try too hard.. Cheri Oteri hops on the hood of the car, belly first while aiming her pistol at the poor girls. Then Rob Riggle somehow has one of those battering rams the SWAT team uses to bust down doors and hes smashing out their windows with it. Then as they try to make their getaway Kathryn Hahn dramatically flings herself in front of the moving vehicle...

I wouldn't cooperate with anyone who just "showed me a badge" in plain clothes in a ****ing supermarket parking lot.

That's how people get conned, or worse...

especially when you know you haven't done anything wrong and a bunch of dudes swarm you wearing regular clothes, I think most people would probably freak the **** out.

This made me think a little deeper. With seven agents, it's obvious that they were going after a big fish. Perhaps a snitch informed them that the high school football team was planning a kegger or something. So they've got their whole enforcement team on stakeout waiting for the cornerbacks and receivers to show up (because you know the cornerbacks and receivers are the ringleaders), and they saw this minor situation occur. Wanting to make the best use of the taxpayer's money, they decided to do an enforcement action while waiting, and then it all blew up when the perp tried to run.

Donger, where are you getting you other details from? I just read through the thread in DC. This one here alludes to the girl being approached by all of the agents at the same time. The one in DC straight up says it. Where are you finding that the female agent first acted solo?

http://www.dailyprogress.com/news/lo...9bb30f31a.html

ABC spokeswoman Kathleen Shaw said in the agency statement released Friday afternoon that agents were working the area that night, concentrating on underage possession enforcement. Shaw said a female agent saw "what appeared to be an underage person in possession of what appeared to be a case of beer."

"The agent identified herself as a police officer and was displaying her badge," the statement said.

"Other agents did not join the incident until the subject refused to cooperate," ABC said. "Rather than comply with the officers' requests, the subject drove off, striking two officers."

"The agents were acting upon reasonable suspicion," the statement added.

I've been doing some looking around. There is also this from the original story:

"Charlottesville Commonwealth's Attorney Dave Chapman read Daly's account and said it was factually consistent."

http://www.dailyprogress.com/news/bo...9bb30f31a.html

So you have the agency saying one thing and the city's attorney saying the girl's statement is factual according to the investigation that has been conducted. Throw in the charges for fleeing assaulting officers has been completely dropped..... I could be wrong but, the way it reads to me is the ABC is trying to cover its ass.

If the agents are lying, go after them. I've no problem with that at all. I'm not under the impression that any cop is infallible.
