That is a great course. Probably the most underrated one in the Phoenix area.

If you're a blank slate with no ingrained bad swing habits I'd recommend taking some beginner lessons at GolfTec. That way you can start off with a good swing and not have to unlearn bad habits. You can start with an hour for under $100 and they'll hook you up to sensors and match what you're doing with what you should be doing. Quite a few locations in the valley.

Remove distance from the equation, you brain knows how hard to hit it , like a basketball shot use feel for the distance part.

Don’t be afraid to miss , lol oh could hit a perfect putt and still miss , imperfections in the grass etc.. when you miss don’t blame your self a missed putt is never your fault you had some bad luck.

I never three putt .
Most 3 putts are caused by poor distance on your first putt. A person usually doesn't miss the line by 3 ft but does leave it short or run it by the hole that distance. The easiest 2 putt (we're talking from distance) is when you leave it by the hole for a tap in. If person keeps leaving it 3 ft from the hole or more those 2 putts are going to come harder and especially if that's where a person struggles. A person has to trust their eyes and have some natural feel to be a good putter from distance. Sometimes I'll practice putting from distance while looking at the hole instead of the ball. Sometimes I'll do it during a round and gas it in the hole from 30 ft. That's a hoot when that happens.

I have a friend like you. Beautiful swing. All he had to do to get alot better is play since he had the mechanics. Alot of people with shitty swings think if they just golf, they will get a ton better and could be scratch. IMO unless you are correct at P6 and P7 (positions at Impact and right before impact) you can only get so good and the worst thing you can do is practice alot with a shitty incorrect swing. You just ingrain your bad habits. At the golf course I clean carts at, I see tons of old guys who play every single day and they still suck.

Most people give themselves way way to many putts and are worse than they think. It's hard to make every 3 footer. Shit, I miss 1 footers occasionally. When I play with certain people they always try to give me them, and I refuse and then I just miss them anyway lol

Have so many thoughts going through my head that I have no idea what to do. Have the yips on putts and chips. Have no idea if I'm going to hit a pull hook or push slice so I just aim straight in the hope that I will randomly hit it straight.

People tell me I have a beautiful practice swing however once the ball is placed in front of me, I swing like I'm in concrete shoes. If I drink enough to forget about everything, I play pretty well.

I change my grip, try different setups, etc. Everything helps for a while and then the old inside takeaway and over the top loop comes back. My divot with no ball is down the target line and with a ball goes 30 to 45 degrees to the left. I hit everything really high and weak because the club face is wide open. If the club is square, I hit a horrible pull that's usually OB.

I'm seriously ball bound.

I tried waggling to keep everything moving. It worked pretty well the first time however when I play with other people, I get so nervous about playing badly that I just play badly. I'm so far inside my own head, I can't find my way out. My whole game is one giant YIP.
Take the club back outside and then drop inside just as you start down. Basically, the opposite of what you do. Look up the 'Magic Move' and see if that can give you some help.

I'm a complete n00b, first wanting to do no more than hit the crap out of golf balls while drinking/eating/watching football at TopGolf, then realizing it's a lot harder than it looks.

I've gone to a local driving range a few times and am now fairly consistent with a nice easy swing, hopefully building up to being able to smack the crap out of balls (which still doesn'tgo well). Haven't really ventured into anything beyond that, even though they also have a few practice areas for putting and a shorter game.

You're definitely inside your own head if you're missing 1 footers. Hopefully you're not playing any break from a foot. I've missed a lot of short putts(3' to 6') in my life by over playing the break. Make a great stroke only to watch it roll across the edge of the hole on the high side. Do that a couple times and then I start quitting on it and miss it left.

I'm going to head out to the course about 1:30 or so and hit a few balls. Then I'll slip off on the back 9 and play a few holes. I'll have the bluetooth speakers on my golf cart cranking out some rock&roll and it will be a beautiful afternoon on the course. Golf is good!

My home course (Prairie Dunes) has greens that are always quick. I've worked my way to a really solid 2 putt, with an occasional 3 putt. I'm not sure that it will help you, but my mentality with the 1-3 foot putts is to square the face to the center of the hole and hit it solid enough to take any break out of it. It's worked well for me through the years. My golfing issues are generally outside of the green.
