That would’ve bumped them out of the 1-seed to like the 5 seed.

No chance Manning is winning 3 road games to get to that Super Bowl. Unfortunate.
Good chance Brady wins another Super Bowl in that scenario, though.

Had we won the west that year and more importantly, had Maclin and Houston not gotten hurt later in the year, we could have went into Foxboro and beat them. Hell we almost did without those 2, but if Houston doesn't go down I think our defense that year is as good as Denver's was.

What I'd like to see:

The Chiefs offense get right this game, put up 30 easily by the time the 3rd quarter ends and just coast the rest of the way. I fear that more of the same will happen, and the Chiefs will win the game like 24-13.

The defense will have a bear of a time trying to keep Fields caged, but there's nobody else on that offense that remotely scares me.

This will be a great test for the DL: how do they fare against dual threat QBs? Can they keep the pressure on if they have to gap control? Later, that's going to be important against the Eagles, Bills, and other teams. The DL has risen to every challenge so far this season, so I wouldn't bet against them.

And, honestly, Spags has been on one this season. I imagine he's going to have all kinds of blitzes that are going to force Fields off his spot and there will be some errant throws there.

IMO we are the reigning SB champs prepare to get their best. Also, we always play down to their level in these games.

I don’t see it. We just weren’t the franchise that won those types of games back then.

DJ Moore could be an issue.

We kicked the absolute shit out of Denver in Denver late in the year. If we win the west, IIRC, we'd have had NE at home in the AFC champ game.

I sincerely hope they get the 1st or 2nd pick so they can get Williams or Maye. If there's a franchise that deserves that it's the Bears

Have to get a QB and system that can support that QB, too. I don't see Matt Eberflus being that guy.

It's early yet, but it seems like Poles missed an opportunity to sell high on Fields (whose slow eyes have been an issue since college and continue to be) and reset the roster his way.

They could have traded Fields and acquired assets used this year or next. At this point, not sure he's going to have much trade value and surely they won't commit to him long-term.

The only way I'd be scared of any WR out there at the moment is if he has a heck of a solid #2 option that can draw attention as well. But if you're the Bears and you have Moore and Meh - Spags/McDuffie/Sneed is going to be able to keep that guy from beating us, IMO.

This secondary is playing ball.

This is the kind of game we need right now, one where we should be able to just roll over a team and everyone do some good things without pressing too much.

Which means we'll probably play them close

We have a matching set of CBs.

Small/quick guys used to worry me a lot but McDuffie can just stay in their pocket so well. Then you think "well what about bigger, more physical technicians like Williams or Adams" and I think that's perfect for Sneed.

So at that point I'm left with only guys who are unicorns or maybe just blindingly fast. Hill, Waddle, Smith, Chase....that's pretty much the end of the list.

And Every one of those guys has a complementary part to put pressure on us. Hill/Waddle, Smith/Brown, Chase/Higgins

So those 3 teams can pressure us downfield because they have not only a wealth of weapons, but a single weapon that's pretty well designed to make our lives difficult.

Apart from them? Eh. Maybe if Davis is back in Buffalo you could see Diggs/Davis being ornery but again, I think Sneed on Diggs and McDuffie on Davis is fine.
