So the defensive holding and hands to the face penalties were warranted, in my opinion. So how many calls were there then that really made a difference in the game?

1. The DPI on Sneed on their last TD drive. Really bad call and extended their drive. They are punting if that flag is not thrown.
2. Horse collar flag on the same drive I believe. Terrible call.
3. The missed false start when they were on the goal line. It was 3rd down, so it didn't necessarily give them the win, we would have still needed to stop them on 3rd and goal from the 6.

Those are the only really horrible calls I can think of. Someone mentioned another missed false start when we were called for encroachment, but that was only a 5 yarder and probably didn't have that much of an impact. Ii haven't seen the replay myself to determine if it was indeed a false start.

There were a few other defensive penalties that extended drives, but in my opinion, those were not bad calls. The holding on the kickoff return hurt as well, and was a borderline infraction. But we seem to draw flags anytime we take the ball out on kickoffs, so maybe they were watching for that.

On the opposite side, I think the DPI called against Kelce in the 1st quarter was a really bad call and led to a TD for us.

So I guess I'm wondering how lopsided the officiating really was? We HAVE to score more than 3 points in the 2nd half in that game. And then there was the horrible defensive call on 3rd and 27. Ooof.

Sounds it was the difference in the game. That's several big calls that ****ed us.

This chart DOES NOT account for penalties that were not called eg 2 false starts and crack back block on Nnadi.

The point being, I don't think the officiating was as lopsided as others believe. Yeah, those were really bad calls (or non-calls). But we certainly had within our abilities to make those moot by not laying a near goose egg in the 2nd half. Or making a horrible defensive call when we had them in a terrible down and distance situation.

I wish people would stop with the offense argument. We had THREE possessions in the entire second half and scored 3 points on one them. Teams don’t score every drive and this offense did enough to win the game. The offense was not the problem.

The DPI on Sneed is the one that pisses me off. Then the decision to leave the guy with 783 receiving yards in single coverage.... oof. Both terrible calls - one by the refs, one by the Chiefs.

This is true. I'm not blaming the loss on the offense or the refs. The defense really needed to step up there and Spags put them in position to fail at the worst possible time.

But the offense could have and should have dome more.

On goal line, the offsetting penalties cost Bengals a TD. IF no holding call on Bengals, Mixon would have been given a TD on review. Ball crossed before his elbow hit, you can look it up. So refs not only called a penalty on Bengals they also marked him down short. Neither seem indicative of refs nudging Bengals to win. Boyd had to adjust his helmet after the hands to the face...do you really think if the roles were reversed you wouldn't agree with that penalty if it was on Hill?

On Pringles TD...the flag was thrown well before it was obvious he would return for a TD and he was obviously held. The refs had no way to know at that moment of the penalty he would run it back.

I thought the unnecessary roughness call on Chase was BS and there was a ticky tack PI that was also, I thought, a bad call. Otherwise it was a pretty typical Bengals game as far as penalties go. We are one of the least penalized teams in the NFL.

You guys are passionate fans and hurt by the loss so I am not trying to stir sht up. Just trying to bring some opposite view points. Peace
You're nice, but, the holding call on Ward on the 4th down play was BS, it was within 2 yards of the line of scrimmage and he knocked him down an as the video shows, didn't hold him and the ball wasn't thrown his way. That is not a flag. They would have reviewed and Mixon would have scored and then you would have had the ball 4th and goal from the 10 1/2, you then kick a field goal and Patty goes down and breaks your heart.

It's also convenient that you don't mention the two obvious false starts, or Sneeds non pass interference that extended your go ahead touch down drive, or the obvious illegal contact on Hill that stopped the Chiefs 2nd drive, or the Wylie holding penalty that stopped the first drive in the 2nd half, both BS calls. There were more...

However, it still comes down to nearly everything went your way on Sunday and you won by 3. When you come to Arrowhead... everything won't go your way.

1st drive of 2nd half, Kelce drop on 2nd down hurt, and then Thuney got beat again on 3rd down and Pat nearly threw a pick. You have to catch the ball to stay out of 3rd and long.
2nd Drive on 3rd down, after a god awful Whylie holding call on the Blake Bell catch for a first, Tyreek was knocked down on his route 10 yards down field. Should have been illegal contact and a first, Tyreek, per Patrick, would have been open.

3rd Drive, FG, maybe should have ran a little more after getting in FG range as we were gashing them before that.

We will be fine, and I hope they are the 4th Seed and we play them in Arrowhead.

This all day long, that Sneed DPI call continued THE drive they probably punt on inside their own 30.

Yeah. It’s cool that it’s never called on anyone else, like ever. Joey burrows did it last week too. If you really start looking for it, man……. A lot of QBs do it. But only PMII got the flag.
And this is where the Captain on defense should 100% be chatting with the officials, letting them know it's happening, reminding them of the rule, and making sure it's being caught (the conversation) on camera. Many will say officials aren't swayed by such things, but we've seen far too many instances of Brady and Manning lobbying for calls and getting them. Perhaps officials only listen to certain players, but I chose to believe that you start with a friendly reminder that they're seemingly letting something go, then ramp up the emotion and the amount you speak to them about it.

If the officials are human, they'll either start looking for it, or make sure they let you know they don't care.
