Well, by everyone's account that the board is mostly (70%, 80%?) right, the logic would be that out of 25 people banned from that thread, only ~6 would be on the left.

I do agree that there's not much value for anyone who is more "left of center" rather than "TEH LIBBS!!!" to be in there. There's not a lot of room for nuanced discussion. But then again, I'm not here for political discussion, so whatever.

I do find the blatant conspiracy theories and misinformation to be a bit frustrating, which is why I kind of wish there was a way to just get rid of the "crazies" rather than shutting the whole thing down. But to be clear, I voted "no opinion" in the poll. In general, it is what it is.

Yeah, my only curiosity at this point is whether DC peeps would want the worst of the worst to go away.... and that's basically the approach that SHOULD be taken, if someone were to propose changes.

Not all of this stuff with electing mods and making a ton of subjective rules, etc, etc.... but asking the community as a whole what the largest problems are and if they are fixable, do people want them fixed.

Seems like that's a pretty clear 'no' though.

Just curious....what are some examples of the commonly spread theories that you could prove to be misinformation?

Or do you just favor arbitrary declarations by non-experts w/out proof?

Almost everyone who gets banned from a thread thinks they got banned for no reason. The rare times someone says "shit, my bad" are pretty refreshing.

There have been numerous times people have complained about the Covid thread specifically and "I gOt BaNnEd FoR nO rEaSoN bY lIbTaRdS!" ...and I'll go back and find the post with the specific political opinions and mentions of deep state, etc.... and they'll still have no clue why they were banned.

Vaccines are Bill Gates' way of implanting microchips into everyone
The libs want to take away all of the guns
There's a giant coverup to hide people destroying the food supply chain

Just a few off the top of my head. Just look at about every other thread that TJ or BEP posts for more.

That comment was aimed more toward medicine/treatments, but in general, I lean pro-choice, even though I don't think highly at all of promiscuous people who casually abort. I also think that stretches the definition of a "personal health decision," because there's another life involved which can't make his/her own decisions.
