The Motorcycle Discussion Thread
I figure there are some motorcycle guys/gals on CP, so I thought we could have a place to talk all things Motorcycles.
Tire Mount and Balance Prices (as of 10/29/16) Prices based on if you remove the wheels yourself and bring the wheels and new tires with you: Cycle Gear - $35 per wheel if you buy tires from them. $58 per wheel if you buy tires elsewhere Rawhide - $65 per wheel (assuming it would be the same at other HD dealers. they book it at 1/2 hr per wheel) C R Cycle Tires (DeSoto) - $30 per wheel Cheapest I've found my Michelin Commander II's. Seem like they have good prices on other brands too. http://www.jakewilson.com - Free 3 day shipping on orders over $75 Last edited by Dayze; 10-29-2016 at 09:02 PM.. |

yeah; me too. It will be a nice project for me. it'll definitely be a first, so should be both fun, and a good learning experience.
I think I'm going to try to keep my 72 for years and eventually put a bad ass motor in it; make it a wicked little think.

Big ol s&s motor. I rode my dad's buddy's big dog with the 125" s&s. It'll flat smoke my dads screaming eagle kit'do Electra glide. I'd like to do a bobber like that.

sheeeeeeeit. that'd be a great bike .I had a Vstar 650; it had 1200 miles on it and was 3 years old at the time. i paid $3500 for it and sold it 3 years later for $3k. Bike did everything I wanted to.
Ride your own ride; anyone whoe is concerned about your bike, is probably a tool anyway. You should see the looks I get when I roll into a bike night and there are 30 Stree Glides (all black) sitting there, and I roll up on my 72 lol. There are some that think it's cool/retro, but I deffinitely get stuck-up looks. Mostly from Soccer Dads who put 30 miles on their $20k bike per week.

i'm down.
we're also going to Branson for the Thunder Rally June 20 ; and in September (i think) the Bikers Blues and BBQ thing in Fayetteville. I'm ready for the warm weahter to break. we went to Kobi's and Fro's last night. Kobi's had quite a few bikes. Johnny Dare sat next to us at the bar. Fro's was dead (probably because of Kobi's bike night).

Don't think I'll have the Stage 1 by next month, however I have a few adjustments that should be completing the next few weeks.... Getting new handlbars (4 inches higher and black), and new gauges... at least that's the plan for now... derby\timing\horn covers all getting replaced as well.

i'm diagnosing some popping I'm getting out of the exhaust under decelerations/engine breaking. mostly around 3rd gear. Driving me nuts. hopefully I can find a cheap fix; i really don't want to shell out for a power commander and subsequent dyno run.
I'm dying for some new bars. I'm trying to determine if I need a cable and wiring extension kit if I go from 10" to 12". I think I might be ok. I could always try and if the clutch/brake/throttle /wiring isn't long enough, i could always order the kit. I'm thinking it might be a winter project though. which sucks. I figure while I'm at it, I might as well get the white coke bottle grips I want and relocate the turn signals to the forks while I have everything apart. I think I'm going with the Wild 1 12" Chubby's. There are some other good ones out there, but I like the narrow glide - and I think the base of them is 8 or 10". and there's less pull back than others too. and the knurling at the bottom makes me feel better too.
