Eric Fisher injured Friday [but is ACTIVE for Oakland]

Eric Fisher T, Kansas City Chiefs
Coach Andy Reid told reporters Friday that Chiefs LT Eric Fisher suffered a groin injury during practice Friday.

Fisher is expected to be listed on the teams' official injury report later this afternoon. He allowed just two pressures on 41 snaps in pass protection in Week 1 and finished 2018 as PFF's No. 26 overall offensive tackle among 62 qualified players. Potentially being without your LT is never ideal, but the Chiefs are still set up brilliantly this week against the Raiders' anemic secondary.

I honestly get tired of explaining this to people because it's basic shit, but I guess I"ll do it.

A starter who is below average is still better than a back up who is hot garbage.

It's not hard to understand. How much an injury hurts has as much to do with the quality of the replacement as it does the quality of the player missing time.

I think fisher has become good enough that we don't notice him. Which I'll take. But if I'm not mistaken, hasn't he missed time before and Erving was fine? It's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either. I heard last week that Clark was going to annihilate Jacksonvilles backups and we didn't.

Fisher isn't below average.

At the beginning of the season, people insisted our offensive line depth was just fine.

Why are you trying to hold me to account for things other people say? Did you see ME insist the OL depth was fine?

I was making a point. Try not to be so literal and pedantic and grab at the dynamic I'm pointing out. Fisher is a decent solid player, but my point was even losing a bad player can hurt if the guy who fills in is remarkably terrible. C'mon man. See the forest through the trees.

Erving has NEVER been fine at LT. He's a penalty machine who gives up sacks if he's not holding.

It didn't seem to hurt the Jags tackles last week. They were pretty good in pass blocking though they sucked in run blocking. I loved the way our run defense played last week and hope it continues.

Eh, I'll wait until KC plays a good RB before I praise the run defense.

I didn't like fournette before the draft, and he's done nothing to make me think I was wrong. He's exactly the player I thought he was. A guy who will struggle to reach 4 YPC through a season. On top of it he's actually more injury prone than I expected.

Yet he averaged 5.1 YPC against KC.

KC's offense eliminated Jax's run offense with the pressure to score quickly.

Dunno. He may play Sunday. And yes, this is terrible. All I want from Sunday is for Mahomes to stop getting hit. I'd really like a win, but mainly just want Mahomes to emerge without any further damage to his ankle or anything else.
