I guess you could franchise Ford and make him prove it again. That's probably a better idea but the cost could skyrocket.
I guess I'd tag him if I couldnt get a trade for him and you resign Jones.

If Ford is trade you keep Houston hope Speaks improves. Going to be alot of stud defensive ends at the end of the first you can grab to pair with Jones. Jones/Houston/ rookie and the combo of Speaks/Kpass maybe? Isnt awful. What you lose with Ford you could gain by grabbing a couple of corners in the draft to pair with Fuller sign another Vet CB to a 1 year deal.

Were kinda stuck with Berry, Watts, Lucas and MAYBE Thomas? Who knows what a guy like that will command given his injuries but I dont think its a stretch to say theres probably mutual interest considering that trade almost went down?

Secondary as follows: Rookie CB, Rookie CB, Fuller, Vet maybe? Ward, and Smith. Berry, Thomas?, Watts, Lucas.

That's a pretty damn good secondary no?

Yeah that’s good but like I said, keeping him or losing him in 2019 might be the difference in winning the Super Bowl or not. He’s been that good this year.

Yeah he’s good for sure

But you could get a couple players younger and cheaper to maybe give you what he gives you

Ford is the guy commanding chips from tight ends and running backs now, not Houston. Watch our last several games, watch the playoff game coming up. The announcers always mention it too—how the opponent is always most worried about Ford.

He’s making everyone else’s job easier even when he isn’t necessarily racking up sacks.

If we're in a position to take a corner like Greedy Williams in the 20-23rd spot then you absolutely move up and take it.

We need to find a way to keep Ford and Houston so we can go into next year with our pass rush intact. Ford, Jones, Houston and Speaks. Then we need to shore up the back end. If this D can make the QB hold the ball for a second longer we'll be a sack machine.

Dont you think it would take multiple picks? Veach is pretty aggressive so it makes some sense but I think we overlook how much were gonna have to pay for guys like Jones and Hill they will probably get 100 mil contracts or pretty close. I bet a team is going to give Conley something similar to what Wilson got. Dont think we can afford to keep Conley unfortunately. Maybe that's why Benjamin was brought in but he really doesnt seem like a fit. I'd like to draft a guard at some point in this draft as a fallback in case Erving comes back to earth and LDT who I love just cant stay healthy. I almost wouldnt mind at some point drafting a swing tackle whom at some point could replace Schwartz in a few years, an interior lineman to replace Bailey and another to add to the rotation, another coverage backer, and another RB.

I realize that's alot I dont expect to find that all in 1 draft but we certainly have the number of picks to fill alot of that.

Also I think we undervalue Houston. I'd like to see how many more times Ford has rushed the passer opposed to Houston who can do it all and for as much shit as hes gotten he still has 9 sacks this year and that's with missing some time and a shitty secondary. Give him the secondary I laid out hes easily a double digit sack guy.

And we can’t discount the potential impact of coaching changes on defense. I think we already saw that to a minor extent last week. I’m not saying we necessarily have a bunch of hidden gems on the defense or anything, but I’m pretty certain that we aren’t getting the most out of what we do have.

They’ll for sure let Conley walk. Draft another 3rd or 4th round wr or let andy develop someone.

They for sure need some more playmakers In the defensive backfield.

I don’t think they’ll move on from Houston. They may have to but he’s still damn good

Both Houston and Ford finished in the top 5 amongst edge rushers in pass rush efficiency for 2018. The stat represents the percentage of pass rush snaps by a player that result in a sack, QB hit, or hurry.

So they’ve both been awesome. And we’d be naive to think that they don’t both benefit a ton from each other (and Jones). You need multiple guys so that teams can’t just double team someone every snap (like Houston received for much of 2017).

We need to keep both for as long as possible IMHO.
